I figured that all bets were off in the off-topic area, as long as it isn't overtly racist, loaded with political propaganda, or full of religious tirades.

This is not /b/. There's the word "discussion" in the title for a reason you know, and the guidelines are pretty clear. Just because it's "off topic", it just means off the main topic of the website, so it's anything not related to gaming. That doesn't constitute "random things not worth discussing.

Try reading this thread before you post another one of your own.
