Sue Spender, withdrawals $25.00 from her bank account each week to spend on shoes. After six weeks she has withdrawn $425.00 from her account.

a) How much money did she have six weeks prior to her crazy shoe purchasing? Solve the equation using algebra.

I'm sorry, math isn't exactly my forte (English or Science would be that) and I just hate questions like this - god damn algebra. Either you can tell me which kind of math you hate or help me with my homework. Thanks!

Edit: Okay, so maybe he wrote it out wrong. Sorry if I wasted your time.

I have to say, I hate all forms of maths. My brain just rejects it should I even attempt it. I'll stick to English and entertaining myself with lateral thinking.

I like math. But find the answer on your own. Also, I don't think you gave all the information...

Well, i'm going to assume you mean she NOW HAS $425.00. Because it doesn't make sense otherwise.

Its easy though, if this doesn't just solve itself in your head then i don't know what to say...

Math should go an solve its own damn problems...

Geometry was the only decent one.

Yea... I'm sorry, but if that's how your teacher wrote it out, he either wrote it wrong, or he or you forgot some information...
Unless I'm misunderstanding the question.

Oh, true. If that's what it means, then it's just:
Let x = how much money Sue has in her account.
x - (6 * 25) = 425
x - 150 = 425
x = 575
Therefore, Sue had $575 prior to the withdrawals.

Or something...
At least, that's all it is if what grimsprice said is true.

I did - that's how my math teacher wrote it out.
Then that equation is unsolvable. We only know how much money has been withdrawn and how much went to shoes. We don't know her original account balance nor do we have a way to know. Unless he/she wants to know the formula for figuring it out assuming we were given the proper number, which would be Y=X+425.

Oh. Huh, maybe it is. We got it on the sheet spelled like that - so maybe you're right. Could be a typo. I think I might be able to do it now.

I hate algebra too. It took an immense amount of studying for me to pass on both the high school and college level. Even trig wasn't as bad as algebra, but that's mainly because I actually like geometry and trig is basically a more advanced version of that. I think it's because algebra has too many variables and equations and I'm more of a concrete thinker when it comes to numbers.

Who in the name of fuck spends a full $425 on shoes in six weeks?

I hate algebra and fractions. I'm okay-ish at fractions, but algebra enjoys confusing me.

Oh okay... your teacher is an idiot. Firstly the question is worded wrong. Secondly algebra isn't needed and is therefore unneccessary for the equation. Using it is pointless.
She hasn't specified anything, she's a really bad teacher. Seriously. I'd be worried.

Your question makes no sense. If Sue drawer out $25 six times that's only $150. Though using the information available I would say that she had $425 six weeks prior.
