I started playing megaman 2 and I've completed most of the levels and I'm now on Heat man... All I can say now is holy shit this level is a pain the ASS. I was never that good at these games as a kid and I sure as hell couldn't get this far in it. The platform timing is such a pain!

Thoughts/help?!?! I was never good at platformers to begin with but fuck how did i forget these stupid blocks.

I remember certain levels in Donkey Kong Country being particularly vicious on the subject of disappearing/reappearing platforms. Some are worse than others though. I hate the ones that don't even tell you they're about to disappear.

Somehow, I knew this was going to be about Megaman. I've haven't played much of the games, but I have watched LP's of them, and yeah, those platforming sections involving disappearing platforms look hellish. Later games seem to give you tools that allow you to pretty much skip those sections though. :p

Me personally, I don't mind disappearing platforms though. I HATE slippery platforms though, especially if they're tiny. Rayman 1 had quite a few nasty sections involving those. And considering how the lives and continues work in that game...

Nah, I think I've ranted about that game enough already.

I only played Mega Man 2 for the first time a few years ago. I hate Heat Man's stage. As I recall those disappearing platforms have a rhythm to them but there's one that's off the beat and materialises above your head which means if you've never played the game before there's probably a 99% chance you're going to die there because there's no way to predict it. What a load.

I just leave that level till last and Rush Jet over the top.

Guacamelee had a disappearing platforms section which I actually found pretty fun. It was really fast and hectic. It helped that the consequence for falling was just being teleported back to the nearest piece of solid land.

Funny you mention Megaman 2, because I was about to buy that game yesterday so I could play through it on virtual console, (I really like Megaman 2), but my friend told me not to because he has a deep hatred for Heatman's stage.
Well i bought it on the virtual console for the wii u because i hadn't played it in over 15 years.

I read the title of this thread and immediately had MegaMan 2 PTSD.
Now I'm laughing my ass off.

Patience and memorization. Learn the beat.

That fucking bridge level in the first Crash Bandicoot game on the PSX. Fuck that level, what with it's damn breaking planks and crappy controls. How did I ever beat that as a kid.

I was just about to mention this. Anyone complaining about disapearing blocks have never played crash bandicoot. 3D platforming with disappearing blocks. God i miss that game. Do you remember the road to nothingness? Where there was invisible planks that only appeared when you jumped on them and sometimes they would drop afterward also. They turned the dial to 11 on that level.

I still completed that game 100% as a kid.

Fuck that level. Fuck it to hell. Not only do you have breaking platforms and invisible platforms. But also those warthogs that run up and down. Fucking ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure my brother smashed a controller out of frustration on that level.

Ah yes, High Road and Road to Nowhere...my god those levels were just plain hell to do. Was worse when you start recording and the Let's Play curse kicks in to make you suck even more.
I...I just don't wanna be reminded of those levels ever again. *goes into fetal position and sucks thumb*
It would have been easier if by chance there was analog support for the first game, but then again, it was a young PS1 title so it didn't have it. T^T

Heatman stage just takes practice. No real trick other than playing it repeatedly until it works.

Rest of the game is great though, and honestly heatman isn't really that bad.
