How do you make words typed into a comment work as a link? Like, if I were to type the word "this" and it would link to a website? I haven't been able to figure it out, no matter where I looked. Please help!

Except that is broken -- for some reason it's trying to do some sort of internal thing. Maybe if you do this [http://www.google.com]? I guess you need the full URL, including the http://

The same thing happened to me at first. You're right, it's because it's not the complete url.
