With all their bad mobile titles, it doesn't surprise me. I'll just keep my copy of Final fantasy 1 on the GBA thank you. I don't even bother with AAA stuff anymore.

Is this even AAA though? Like it's remasters of 30 year old games. What the fuck? This is just scalping. Fans have been dying for a faithful way to play FF6 especially, and Square knows this so they are obviously scalping people for that privilege.

Then again, that's like $10 per game if you think about it and they are fairly long games for what they are. Which on paper sounds fine. But because of their age I can't help but think the entire bundle should have been $50 TOPS. Or $40 even better.

I wasn't calling the collection itself a triple a, I was talking about their other library games on Modern consoles. Other than Nier Automata, I have not touched a square enix game in years. The last one was Final fantasy 13, and that was all the way back in 2008

i heard Neir Replicant was good and it's a budget title $40.

It sucks though because a lot of their bigger things are great. FF14, FF7Remake, FF16 looks good too. But it's like their Sub-studios are just a bunch of morons.

Maybe they are going for a retro thing where those game did cost an arm and leg back in the day because inflation is a ************...........

Yeah no Square this is not the way I understand Final Fantasy is a legendary series but pull head out your ass. The greatest game compliation of all time the Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection was only 40 and I would argue pound for pound has way more monetary value than the first six Final Fantas's.

No thanks Square I am good.

Oh, there's a newer version of it. Basically the same thing, but with more Genesis games in place of the arcade and master system games.
Also, it's only about a tenner. Less than any of those FF remakes cost individually.

I got both, and the Genesis Mini.

They probably looked on eBay and saw how much people were paying for discontinued games or something. Only problem is now they’re continued again, as if they mostly weren’t anyways.

Meh. They’ll drop the price or Steam will even more by the holidays.

Oh they're not pixel perfect. They've changed all the sprites for some reason.
And picked one of the worst font they could. It's crazy how "just port the game and don't change" is not penetrating their thick skull.

Why even make new pixel? Just pick the old one, old player will prefer those and new player can't tell the difference (at best, most likely the new one will be worse). The easiest solution is also the best one and SE is somehow too incompetent to pick it.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
It does look like you will be able to buy them individually. Granted FF 2 and 3 (american numbers) are each like 18 bucks. But thats not a horrible price for 2 really good games.

I think it was in the E3 thread someone said it’s because the old games had too much pixel “noise” for modern high resolution displays. This article kinda touches on the possible reasoning behind the changes -

Well if that's the case that's a terrible reason, none of the images shown in the article looked better as CRT than just the pixel and the new pixel for the FF looks worse (look at Terra new pixel, hugh).

If that's really the idea they could just add a "CRT mode" in the option menu. Would take less than 1% of the effort of redoing all the sprite and would accomplish the same results. I played plenty of game on the on CRT monitor and eventually moved on to emulator on computer screen and not once did I think they looked worse on screen.

Bah w/e, if SE want me to keep playing their games on emulator instead of giving them money that's their choice.

Maybe, but it seems like square doesn't put ff games on sale that often, till they have been out for awhile. Like it took forever for FF9 to go on sale.

The fuck. Price-gouging wankers. That collection should be... £25?

Can you buy them individually? I only want 1 & 2 because they're the only single-player numbered entries I've never played.

Yes, can buy them individually. FF1/2 are 9 quid, the rest 13.

But (13 x 4) + (18 x 2) = 70.

Does £70 = $100 now? I really thought they were closer to parity.

Dunno exactly the ratio. But the collection is $74 dollars currently but that's on sale at 22% discount. So that would make the full price be something like $98ish dollars. $94.99? Something like that. But I dunno what that would become in Euros or Pounds, because I dunno if Steam adds anything to international orders.
