"How sad is that? He laughes at his own jokes."

What weirdo fuck tells jokes they don't find funny?

"The exception that proves the rule."

I hate this saying because people who say clearly don't understand that it means the exact opposite of what they think. It should be;

"The exception that proofs the rule."

Anyone starting a sentence with the word 'basically'. It sounds terribly patronising, like you're explaining something to a 4 year old.

Anyone who says "ill".

Look, the word is sick now, and saying it on the Internet makes it look like you don't know how to spell "I'll".

"The Lord works in mysterious ways" is a massive copout. If christians can't explain something then they just fall back on that

This.

Or when someone thanks God for something that was done by a person. For example, the episode of Scrubs where Doctor Cox's sister prays with a family then the medicine finally starts working. Cox asks her to admit that medicine made the man better, she agrees then adds "Thank god for creating medicine." because you know, the hard work of people isn't really theirs, it's gods.

I've had people say that about a few things and it just annoys the hell outta me.

I totally agree. Why is it so hard for these people to just thank other human beings for help? For example: You could say "Thank God I passed my exam" or you could give yourself a pat on the back for doing well, a bit of self-confidence might help you more than thanking your god

"Do onto others what you would have them do unto you."

No, I shall do to others what I choose to do. Reciprocity is the notion of the weak.

"Look who is talking." This really ticks me off because the person saying the phrase is technically talking.

"I could care less" meaning "I don't care at all"

Well, if you could care less, that means that you do, in fact, care.
I hate that one. If they say "I couldn't care less" then they're doing it right. I don't get how people can possibly think they're grammatically correct in saying "I could care less".

People who are ignorant with religion in general. I mean, I'm a (somewhat) devout Catholic, but some people are utterly stupid. I like to take the approach of the Bible verse, which goes something like "God has no hands but yours, no eyes but yours, no mouth but yours..." etc etc. Don't know the actual verse, but that's how I take it.

OP: Whenever people say "Everything happens for a reason". Assuming you're taking a non-literal interpretation of it, and tying it to fate and destiny and what not, it just pisses me off. In my eyes, destiny and fate are constructs of some form of divine being or come from some other spiritual basis. When completely atheist people say it, it just gets on my nerves so badly. I fail to see how someone could believe in fate or destiny without them coming from some greater place.

That was very convoluted, but I hope someone can understand what I mean/see where I'm coming from.

"Why So Serious" - But only when used by people who don't grasp its meaning.
"Same Difference" - I just fucking hate that line.
"The Lord Works In Mysterious Ways" - I think ive seen that above me, but ill say it as well.
"Its Just My Opinion, To Each Their Own" - There are many reasons this is incorrect.
"Treat Others As You Would Like To Be Treated" - Tell that to the Government, and i beg to differ.
