Has the customer service/support team for Xbox every completely screw you over?

Well, they definately did to me. I've had to replace my Xbox 3 times. It was repaired once, but got lost in the mail so I got a new one, which has given up on me. Firstly, my games started freezing. First it was a few, then gradually it was happening to almost all of them. I did some troubleshooting and according to their "troubleshooting" it told me the Hard Drive was the problem as the games played fine without the Hard Drive.

So, today I went out and bought a shiny new 250GB Hard Drive for ?90 to solve the problem. I didn't even need that much space, but for some reason Gamestop screwed up and were selling the 120GB for and extra ?15 or so euro so I took advantage of the problem. Now, one of the main reasons why I wanted to do this was so I could finish ME2 and play Serious Sam and KotOR, which I recently got off eBay. So, I pop in the Hard Drive, transfer my data and as soon as I load up Serious Sam, but I'm told that the game has encountered a problem. Now, the disc could be in better condition, but I've seen ones in worse condition play just fine. Just be sure I fired up KotOR: same problem. A little miffed I fired up ME2 and it froze as it did with my old Hard Drive.

So, thanks to their shitty Support Team, they put me out ?90 and I now it looks like I need to spend more money to get the console repaired as it's not under warranty. Thanks a whole fuckin' lot!!!

So, anyone know of any cheaper solutions?

Has the Xbox 360 Support Team ever screwed you over?

(sorry about this, I really needed to vent somewhere)

Nope, the Xbox support team have been nothing short of helpful and friendly. The customer services people knew what they were talking about, and fixed my Xbox within a week both times it broke, for free.

Sounds like you got the dirty end of the stick.

I've NEVER had a problem with Xbox's Support team.

Everytime I've went to them for help I've been screwed over, such as when I bought Perfect Dark of XBLA and it wouldn't run and I there troubleshooting didn't help (again) and I couldn't get it refunded.

It sounds like the disc reader is broken. You can probably find guides on YouTube for that.
But if the disc reader is broken, then how come it can play games without a Hard Drive attached?

huh, really? My experience with them went rather well, I couldn't connect to xbox live, I fiddled about for about an hour, only making it worse, I phoned them up, and after 5 minutes, I was connected again, and haven't had problems since, or was I lucky?

Oh, I thought that your xbox simply couldn't read the discs.
Is your hard drive attached correctly? I had a problem where I couldn't start any of my games because the hard drive was just barely out of its socket.

Yeah my xbox RRoD'd, and MS "fixed" it. Technically it works but the case wasn't put back together properly- the power button is now spongy instead of providing the assuring click when turning the system on, not a big deal, but the worst part is it's twice as loud now, periodically giving off a horrid ringing noise that has to be drowned out by turning the TV up. Thanks MS.

I've never had problems either. In fact, for any problem I have ever had, the XBox support team has been VERY supportive.

I'm sure it's properly in place. It wasn't initially, but I then double-checked everything on it before trying to run the games.

That doesn't sound like a customer support issue at all.
My problem with them was that their troubleshooting guides ended up putting me out by ?90

Well, I'm going to have to give up on this one. You could contact them again, and see what they recommend.

I say I'll be told to get a new hard drive or ship it off to repair, which I'm really wanting to avoid even though it's necessary.

You wouldn't happen to know why the Xbox Original games won't play, would you?

Oh god one time I needed to do a second license transfer within a week (since that was how long my refurb 360 lasted). They tell me to fax in the reciept. So I did daily for 6 months. Still had t owait the year before I could play any arcade title offline (which was bloody inconvenient because I didn't have a router).

Tried that. Among the other solutions they listed.

My only experience with Xbox Original games is by download of the XBL marketplace, so no, sorry.
Best of luck
