I hate when people spoil game endings.

I haven't played the game, I asked my brother about it and didn't mind spoilers, but I didn't know that's how it was marketed.

Well I hate it when people go on the Internet and complain about things they can't help.

But then again I've seen mass genocide, so maybe I'm just a bit jaded.
If you hate that, why waste any time in a thread like that?

I am reaaaaaally picky about any kind of spoiler about a game I haven't finished. Even if someone says as much as "Hey, you're gonna get that ability later on when you defeat this random boss guy", I'll probably get pissed.

So it's because of that that as soon as I see the words "end", "spoilers" or something like that, and they're followed by the name of a game I haven't finished, I immediately look away and get out of there. But that's just me being overly picky.

At the same time, some people just don't give a crap about spoilers. For example, the other days my friends at work were talking about the Dark knight Rises, a movie I'd like to watch but I haven't had the time to do so. I heard the word "ending" and I asked them to stop but they claimed I had over 6 months to go watch it and it was my fault the ending was still a spoiler for me (Incidentally, they had already spoiled part of that movie for me a week after its release).

So yeah, I do it mostly for myself. If I wanna avoid spoilers, I'll be real careful about what I read and hear about something. I know you can't have control over that all the time but at least I try.

Given the uproar of the ME3 ending, I had to watch it on youtube. Then I had to go spoil it for one of my co-workers. He never played ME1, and was likely never going to play ME3 as he hated the gameplay of ME2. A die-hard WoW player,...

Anyway, I agreed, the original ending was crap. I just played the game last week, to see if the game actually justified the ending. The game was good, until that crappy ending. I may have liked it better, having been warned about certain choices. Still it doesn't make sense in context.

Apparently, the ending is justified with DLC. Without that DLC, you have one hint during ME3, and the great McGuffin is introduced. I still think that somebody must have been smoking something when they came up with the ending.

Rosebud is the sled. Darth Vader is Luke's father. The Planet of the Apes is Earth. Soylent Green is people. Dumbledore dies.
Not all of these are equally as well known.

Rosebud is a classic, but one I've never seen. Probably is slowly being forgotten.

Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, that is one of the most well known spoilers ever. I'll let this one pass.

The Planet of the Apes: Well, pretty obvious, especially if you watched the most recent ones first. Still not a very popular movie.

Soylent Green. Another of the most well known spoilers. I have never seen the movie, but it was spoiled years ago. I'll let others experience the horror of having this movie spoiled for them.

Harry Potter #? Whichever movie this is, I haven't seen it, but was going to. Thanks a lot,...
That was pretty much my point. MetalDooley was arguing that you should only click on unlabelled spoiler tags if you don't care about anything being spoiled for you (as you don't know what's in them). I was giving an unlabelled spoiler tag with a selection of spoilers as an example. One of them you didn't know. I did say "Click if you dare!" ;)

Personally, I think it's more courteous to give people an idea of what's in them, so people who are bothered by spoilers can still take part in conversations about games/films/etc. that they have already finished.

I hate it too but in some multiple-ending games I'll deliberately spoil them just because I'm too anxious to wait my own outcome or I'm trying to avoid the bad ending where my dude kills himself or everybody dies after wasting 60 hours of my life on it.

Case in point:

Sometimes a game is so good that you cant believe how good the ending is until you experience it by yourself.
That is some solid advice right there too.

Not big deal for me. Only spoilers that I might be unhappy about are the ones that reveal a huge twist. If there isn't one, I don't mind.

With that in mind, ME3's ending being spoiled should have upset me, but it was so fucking retarded that I just laughed instead and forgot all about the game. I still haven't acquired it.
Should probably catch up one of these days.

Hmm, okay we were talking about spoilers and the incidents where people claim something is terrible but can't give specific examples why because they don't wish to give spoilers, and yes that DOES annoy me!
Of course it's not impossible that that a given game could be bad or that another person could see a problem where I didn't but it still annoys me to listen to someone criticise something when I don't have all the facts availiable in order to argue the point OR even agree if I should feel that they have a good point.
Like I said in my original post, it would certainly be much better if I could just ignore or avoid these opinions I don't like hearing but I just can't help how I feel and these things do get under my skin sometimes.

I honestly think I'm giving this issue more consideration than is necessary actually, as soon as I've finished this game for myself then the opinions of others are going to occupy less and less space in my mind and cease to bother me anymore.
I merely meant to point out that this is something you don't have to be annoyed by. Essentially, people aren't even allowed to talk about how they feel about a game you want to play near you without annoying you. It annoys you with or without spoilers. This makes me think of you saying "I want to play ______" and your friend says "Yeah, I just beat it the other day, its pretty good." Then you reply "Thanks, dickhead!"
As you say, once you play the game - this won't matter when all is said and done anyways. I am just saying, try not to let it get to you. Especially, if once you play it, it don't matter anyways. I don't mean to come off as "your wrong, stop it" I merely mean "you do know that's irrelevant and you don't have to let that bother you, right?" People on this very site LOVE Oblivion and this seriously hurts my brain if I try to understand it, but they don't annoy me. You must understand, I think that game is the epitome of bad game design. Additionally, I haven't beat KotOR2 yet and people trash it all the time on this site - others defend it, but I don't give a crap. I know I want to play it and that is that. Once I get to it on my backlog, maybe I can join in this old ass conversation.

I only have a problem with people who criticise and even that isn't because I think they are wrong it's only when I feel they're being arrogant or condescending.

I never tell anyone they're not allowed to express their opinion around me and no amount of criticism is going to affect my own opinion it is really just something that gets on my nerves sometimes.

You are right though that this isn't something I need to be annoyed by and in the long run an opinion about a video game is the least of anyones worries, but it doesn't mean I don't get a little frustrated sometimes.

I do understand what you're trying to explain to me but I think we've both drawn this particular topic out further than it needed to go mainly due to my own misunderstanding, so I'll just say now that I'm sorry for wasting your time.

Hope you had a great new year though.

Where is the logic in complaining about spoilers after clicking on a spoiler tag?If you care at all about stuff being spoiled then don't click on unlabelled spoilers.Pretty simple really

i thinks its more of a calculated risk, if you are watching/reading anything game related, your taking the chance that there will be spoilers, even more frustrating is when you see people complain in threads that are specifically about the game, yeah spoiler tags are nice, but you have to accept the fact that not everyone is going to use them, and that game endings are a big discussion point.

also boggles the mind when people complain about spoilers in death threads, there is one going on now and people where complaining about spoilers, but half of the post basically said "this guy: spoiler-picture-spoiler" so people had to click the picture to find out the game, then complain about the spoiler,

tldr: Bruce Willis was a ghost all along!

I feel like I'm not enjoying the narrative of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess as much as I could, since I've had everything spoiled for me, beforehand.

I went into this game knowing what happens to Midna at the end, about Gannondorf, the Mirror of Twilight, Zelda's sacrifice, Wolf Link, that one NPC's head turning around to make a creepy face, that creepy cutscene you get after bringing back the last batch of light tears, Ooccoo's entire race, the invisible rats, and Zant's insanity. So many surprises and plot twists were waiting for me in this game, and I already knew about each and every one of them before I'd even started. Also, I'm still waiting for the bit where I can see Midna without that crown/mask thing on her head.

I was watching a video on youtube listing the top ten most depressing games, hoping to get buying ideas. They spoilt the end of Silent Hill 2. I never saw it coming.

I was livid.

Spoilers are one of my pet peeves and have gone apeshit at people before when they ruin something i'm watching/playing

I can get very emotionally invested in games/films/tv series and to have someone ruin it for me does my head in. I understand that they are generally talking about it to try and convey the emotions they felt and how awesome it was, but by doing so they are taking away from everyone elses enjoyment of the same level.

I was lucky enough to avoid any spoilers involving the walking dead and played it completely unaware of ANYTHING and my god was it good :)

So everyone says. They also say it?s the sort of thing I?d like and I was looking forward to the day I?d get to experience it. I missed out on the SH franchise as a young man. I couldn?t tell anyone why. And now I just feel empty when thinking about it. Fuck spoilers.

I had Dead Rain and Bioshock spoiled to me. Sadly partially my own curiosity did it as I was reading up about it.

I think it was just yesterday. I started playing Viewtiful Joe recently, and decided to start playing some of the music on YouTube. More specifically, the music that plays in the first level (as well as Joe's theme music). Unfortunately, one of the related videos to the right also gave away who the final boss was, and I was very irritated that it just slammed me in the face like that.

personally I hate atories being spoiled at all, not just games, any media, personally if spoiling a story were declared a crime tomorrow I think the world would be a better place
