For some reason my friendly AIs keep shooting the walls the enemies are behind. I mean, the enemy is sometimes above them, and they'll just shoot up at the ceiling...

Are they supposed to do that?

Nope - sounds as though you have a glitch. That or there are enemies on the ceiling and you haven't realized yet.

Nope. For the most part they are pretty good. When you level them up they are really useful. Give Liara a sh1teload of biotic powers and watch her kick arse.

No. I had the same problem before. An enemy was stuck in a wall w/ only the foot sticking out. I had to reload to fix the problem.

Well, it's a glitch. However, it's not like you have limited ammo and they're wasting it ;)

The solution would be to send them into a position where they CAN engage the enemy and you've solved the problem or have them follow you while YOU get into a position where something can be hit.

Also, there's a far worse glitch that you can get, where they stop attacking altogether even when given a direct order to fire upon something standing out in the open 5 meters from you.

I love it when they stop following your command to regroup so you either have to tell them to constantly come near you or reload the game.

I'm playing the game for my 6th time and I have never had that happen. They normaly don't go where I want them to so your problem is quite odd and I can't really help you with it. The only thing that comes close is when they shoot a ledge when somebody is in a posision they can't see.

I would suggest just moving on, the problem is most likely due to your location.

If I'm reading this correctly, it sounds like they are not registering that there's a wall between them and the enemy.

If that is indeed the case, then rest assured it happens to me, too. They'll stand there, firing away at a closed door forever, unless you open the door. Quite often they'll attempt to shoot through the walls, too. Tends to help if you tell them to move a bit, though, then they'll usually find a spot to fire from.

But yeah, point was, it's obviously not supposed to do it, but it happens.

Indeed.
That may be a glitch, or geth stalkers and other wall mounted enemies.
