Ever heard people complain about how long games take to load? Well, I believe I've got a new one. After installing a couple new mods for oblivion (Deadly Reflexes 6.0, and Unnecessary violence 2.0, and the latest version of the Oblivion Graphics extender), my game takes to damn long to save. Every time the game goes to save (whether it be autosave, quick save, or standard save) teh game stalls for a good 20 seconds before the game starts up again. As you would imagine, this does lead to a definite break in flow. Unfotunately the only compromise at the moment to stop the game stalling every time I leave a room or travel to a new area is to disable autosave, meaning if the game crashes to desktop (which as anybody who has played oblivion on pc will tell you, is all to common) I stand to potentially lose a lot of gameplay. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated. I will give more info about specs, load order, mods used, etc if requested.

i'm not too good on detailed things like those, but if i were to take a stab at it i might say load order for your mods (most mods in oblivion are compatible, at least enough to not have THAT happen.)

and just curious, how many cores is your cpu running on? (basically, give your specs plz.)

I'm running a quad core system with 6 GB memory, more than powerful enough to run Oblivion.

Sounds like one of your mods may have had a virus tucked away inside it. Try removing/disabling them one by one and see what happens.

Virus? Unlikely. Probably the game's old engine is having trouble loading such a fat mod or the mod is unstable.

Some Mods cause save-file bloat (for whatever reason, they use HUGE amounts of flags to keep track of various states, and all those flags have to be included in the save). If your hard drive is slow, it's going to take a while to create the save file.

Are you sure you have the most up-to-date versions of the Mods and whatever tools you may be using to load them? Also, have you checked to be sure there isn't a conflict between the Mods you're using?

1. Yes, in fact this issue didn't arise until I updated, before I was running Unn. violence v 0.9.9 and Deadly Reflexes 5, and everything was running smoothly, albeit with less nifty features thrown in in the latest update, all these issues have arisen since I have gotten the latest versions. I am slightly tempted to make a clean save and go back to restore save stability, but I would be losing out on many of the new features
2. I do not believe there should be many major conflicts, I am using oblivion mod manager and that typically is pretty good at detecting anything absolutely game breaking, and although the 2 mods mentioned do rather similar things, the mod creators supposedly have been working together to make sure they are compatible, at least one of them actually mentions the other on it's respective nexus page in fact.
