I have a realistic list of scenarios for the future

There are a few different situations that I see for the future of Earth.

1. Humanity destroys itsself, through war, or otherwise

2. Humanity is destroyed by natural disaster

3. Humanity is overrun by other race on Earth (animals)

4. Humanity is discovered by alien race; destroyed

5. Humanity discovers alien race; is destroyed

6. Alien race discovered, we learn more of our universe

7. Earth destroyed before replacement Earth is found

8. Replacement Earth found, we adapt to it, repeat this list

So basically nothing will lead to much productivity on our part, besides option 8, which also seems one of the more unlikely ones to me. There doesn't seem to be much of a purpose to life.

Discussion: Do you think these are realistic scenarios? Do you think anything else could happen?

Yeah, that will probably happen, and I plan to solve these potential problem by being dead by then.

Those aren't really scenarios so much as bullet points. Expand to provoke discussion.

John Wyndham's books might give you some ideas to flesh it out.

This list is rather depressing... not surprising considering that six of the eight possibilities involve destruction of the Human race or Earth... as for the rest, only one seems actually positive....
Fortunately I have arrived with a slightly shorter list of several other possible non-human or earth destruction scenarios.
Note: when I say "we" I mean most of humankind

1.We achieve a pseudo-utopian state using brain washing, cloning, and genetic technology. (read Brave New World for a closer examination)

2.We achieve a truly utopian state. (This is extremely unlikely even though it would be nice)

3.We "achieve" a dictatorial fascist regime, one in which the government maintains absolute control over everything. This will probably include propaganda and constant surveillance. (Read 1984 for a better idea)

4. We almost destroy ourselves through usage of WMDs. Either the Earth's governments barely hold on, and manage to begin reconstructing society (this is not necessarily good, as society might take the form of the above situation), or they are completely destroyed and humans have to survive on their own.

5. Computers become self-aware and become Earth's dominant life form / machine system / hive-mind-collective-thingy. Fortunately humans are not destroyed, they are kept as pets, or prisoners, or elite peoples who are prevented from doing anything unenjoyable, due to the fact that we programmed them with Asimov's three laws. Unless we were idiots. In which case we die.

6. Zombie Apocalypse. I know, I know, ridiculous and downright silly. I will actually be surprised, however, if by the year 2500 some bored eggheads have not created a least one zombie for fun.

7. All of Humanity transcends physical reality through usage of cyberspace. We essentially become a collective of utopian gods with the ability to manipulate the real world through the usage of a truly bio-mechanical computer based system. Hilarity ensues?
