On account of being recently cast adrift like a loose sock from a laundry-barge, I decided to dial up the clichés and join a dating site. The process itself did its best to destroy what little soul was left unscathed, but a cursory glance at the 'selection' in my locale was akin to being hit in the solar plexus with the ugly hammer.
Now, I'm not an Adonis by any means, and I know I can't afford to be picky and should be more principled than to pass judgement on others' outcomes in the genetic lottery, but this brief encounter with the single denizens of my hometown served only to reinforce every negative stereotype I have ever heard about dating sites.
So, does anybody agree? Or are there success stories? How do you meet people in real life? And other questions. Discuss.
