I hear developer interviews differently than how I'm supposed to (critically)

When i see certain words describing games i don't think of their meanings. I think of what i think that means when they are applied to games.

Epic: We make you look at big things in a way that isn't entertaining.
Visceral: There's a sound effect and some sprites. Or we force you to look at bad animations.
Re-imagining: we've totally fucked it both artistically and story wise.
Compelling: It isn't.
Emotional: We've broken the rest of the story for some romantic fan-fiction quality shit
Character driven: we've made archetypical characters.
We're fans: broken fanfiction quality story OR we have no idea what the aliens even look like.
Lots of customisation/leveling up: We're taking advantage of how people want to unlock things to compensate for our lack of good maps.
New engine: Minor optimisations and one or two additions.
Competitive: There is some form of competition in this... somewhere
Streamlined: we've cut some shit out in comparison to our last game
Streamlining: we've cut good shit out, for babies.
Mature: Boobies, blood and the word "fuck"
Gritty: Black, white and red. All the characters are in a strop too.
designed to be Co op: It's game mechanics are sub par without other people.

Am i completely correct or just a pessimist who's often right?

Fixed that up a bit, because whenever someone says "gritty realism" the world is either basked in grey or set in a dead area of dirt and abandoned urban skyscrapers that you can't enter anyway. Full of unnecessary melodrama and assholes if "gritty" is used to describe the characters in it and the overall narrative.

Otherwise, yeah.
PR statements are bullshit and they have to "sell" their game even if it does mean making it sound like gold on paper while it's somewhat shit in practice.

Yeah, it's fun cutting through the PR bullshit.

Especially when they say the words "we've tried to make it really competitive" what they actually mean is "the single player was an afterthought and the multiplayer is an unbalanced cluster fuck."
