This is awesome, thank you!
I'm pleasantly surprised with the lack of "that's easy, no biggie" posts.
I have been playing Civ since I was 12 years old (Civ 1 was my first computer game, changed my life) and I know this level of Deity is ridiculous. Honestly ... I never thought I would beat it. I've tried at least 30 times (i.e., I've had a great civ with a "shot" at least 30 times and always ultimately get smashed).
I also tried to make my starting setup as hard as I could while not being forced to play a weeklong game with huge continents (which in my opinion would be easier, but less fun). Always played standard resources, no new random seed, no special rules of any kind (other than 22 competing civs). Never wanted to win and say "I could have made it harder".
And I don't know how to cheat or hack it, or even if that's possible--wouldn't want to if I could.[/quote]
i tried it once with civ 4 until i ran into several 'stacks of doom' from the Egyptian Empire.(30 archers destroyed my 12 tanks) and i just gave up. thank god they fixed this issue with civ5.
