I just bought Demons' Souls. Any tips?

So I've been doing well so far (haven't dies at any bosses except for tower knight, where I had to start the game over as royalty, because I made the mistake of choosing a heavy armoured starting class), but it seems I've hit a wall with the flamelurker. Is there anything I should be using on him?

*IF* you have a purple flame shield then you can actually tank him pretty easily. His moves are well telegraphed but as his health gets lower he gets faster and his aura gets bigger so it makes them harder to see. His big explosion attack also gets larger in radius.

Magic (not fire duh) does a lot of damage to him and he is best fought at range. There are multiple ways to get him stuck on the scenery too if you are that way inclined.

Me again. If you're not a mage, this boss will be pretty difficult.

For my soldier, I had purple flame shield and sticky white stuff for (time-limted) magic damage.

You're not always going to have chance to use sticky white stuff during battle, not while you have health and stamina to restore. So use it before the battle to get some head start.

Then its a matter of keeping your shield up and keeping distance.
