does anyone know of other games like it, I am looking into DA:O but I kinda would like a sci fi setting.
Add a +1 for Alpha Protocol.Ghostwise said:Give Alpha Protocol a try. Pretty cool game if I do say so myself. I think it was a bit underrated. Some frustratingly difficult boss fights too.
I agree with this. Oh, and KOTOR is downloadable. I got it on steam for $2.50. The second one isn't on there, thoughTr3mbl3Tr3mbl3 said:If I may make a recommendation, just try all of Bioware's games. These include Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Jade Empire, Knights of the Old Republic, Baldur's Gate. I think that's all their major titles, I intentionally omitted Sonic Chronicles because it's more traditional JRPG.
All of the titles I mentioned are incredibly well-written and voiced, have deep and lengthy storylines, amazing casts of characters, and offer a slightly different game designs.
I know you can get Mass Effect, Dragon Age at any retail game store, as well as on Xbox's Games On-Demand section. Jade Empire is also a downloadable title, but you won't be able to find it any more unless you get lucky at Buyback's (found a copy at FYE for $7). KOTOR is not a downloadable title, and thats something that you'll have to hunt for. Not sure about Baldur's Gate, but I think the entrie series is PC exclusive.
Hope this helps.
I think it was the loose controls that brought the game down.Ghostwise said:Give Alpha Protocol a try. Pretty cool game if I do say so myself. I think it was a bit underrated. Some frustratingly difficult boss fights too.
I wouldn't say ME2 gave me a thrill, but to each his own...MiracleOfSound said:Nah.
There's nothing that gives me quite the same thrill as ME2.
Total opposite here. Haven't been as pumped from a scene in any medium since the lighting of the beacons in Return Of The King. Was hopping around my room during the final cut-scenemazzjammin22 said:[

I'm sure it did. Many people love ME2, and that's OK. But I'm with Yahtzee on this one: for some reason, maybe the faces, I just couldn't get into it. Something about the seriousness of the game came off as forced and sometimes silly to me. (TO ME. It's a personal opinion) It probably didn't help that my brothers were around whenever I played it and would be critical of everything that was happening, which detracted from the immersion. Pointing out all the flaws and silliness in a story sort of makes it hard for me to get involved. I often used the excuse "Maybe it's supposed to be silly", but seeing how everyone loves it on this site, I guess that's not the caseMiracleOfSound said:Total opposite here. Well, there was certainly a lot of intentional silliness in ME2 (Conrad Verner, The ads in the Citadel, Mordin's singing, the Turian at customs: 'you humans are all racist!', Shepard's awesome dancing fail, the bar-room conversation between the intergalactic stag party, Joker doing the robot dance to mock Legion... etc etc) but yeah it was a serious game in general. Most of the little funny details are found when just exploring outside of the story.mazzjammin22 said:I'm sure it did. Many people love ME2, and that's OK. It's a well made game, but I just couldn't bring myself to love it like everyone else. But I'm one of those loons who liked Bioshock 2 more than Bioshock 1 and Dante's Inferno more than God of War.
Someone already said it but you'd probably also like Jade Empire, it's a medieval asian setting but the combat is pretty fun and the dialogue and voice-acting is Bioware's quality. It's my #3 favorite Bioware game (ME2/ME1 are 1 and 2)CrazyMedic said:ok thanks and I forgot to mention I also finished ME1 and really what I am looking for a nice solid dialog based rpg with a bit of action and based on what I know I think I will do DO:A, thanks for all the help guys.
Do you refer to Brayko? All you have to do is spike his coke, and use a bullet time ability and he's done for. And add another vote for Alpha ProtocolGhostwise said:Give Alpha Protocol a try. Although ME2 didn't really have much RPG left, so he may like them.oplinger said:...a 3rd person shooter sci-fi action RPG? ...uhm. Well, Rainbow Six Vegas is a lot like ME2, just without the RPG.
Dead Space is kinda like ME2, but less RPG. and shorter.
Depressingly ME2 is also kinda like Gears of War. ..but that's also without the RPG.
I can't think of any -really- like ME2, sorry.
I'm with you on the ME2 thing. With ME1, I was fully immersed. It was the very first game I played where I actually felt like I was Shepard, like I was there. None of the issues most people had with it(the inventory, combat, Mako) bothered me. In fact, they helped me become more immersed. Because like Shepard, I was just learning how to use this stuff. I was learning along with him, I was dealing with each issue, just like him. It was just fantastic.mazzjammin22 said:I'm sure it did. Many people love ME2, and that's OK. What weapon did you specialize in? I went with pistols. After you get the chain shot ability to the second level, you can finish bosses very quickly and easily. I killed the final three bosses in just one go with the ability. The 80's dude was an entertaining fight, though.Ghostwise said:Give Alpha Protocol a try. Pretty cool game if I do say so myself.
