I want to start off by saying that I've never played Halo multiplayer save one night at a friends house for a couple of minutes while one of them was getting a drink. I've never played it, online or locally, multiplayer since then. That being said...
I like Halo, from the first time I picked it up. I was engrossed in the story, I fell in love with the characters, not to mention that it was one of the first games I played where, while I had the ability to kill off every living thing in the universe, I didn't have to. An elite and four grunts on a patrol, a grenade and a few well placed shots would take them out but I had the liberty to pass them up and continue on without being penalized by missing out on xp. But I digress. I feel like I'm in a very small minority here. The majority seems to think that Halo is a multiplayer game. That's it. You get online and play and, wait, there's a single player campaign? I hear people critisize the game for not being deep. Since when does a story have to be "deep" to be enjoyable, and for that matter, Halo is far from the flat, predictable, and sometimes even boring stories seen in other games, I'll throw one out there: Prototype (utter yawn, I never even finished it). I thought about this all day and then came home to find The Halo 3 Commercials [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/100479-Halo-3-PS2-Ads-Make-25-Most-Epic-Ads-List] in the news, and that reminded me further of the universe that the games spawned.
Overall, I like Halo, not for the game, but for story. Playing it I was reminded of the feelings that I used to have playing Final Fantasy back when that actually meant something, when they were actually Good(I haven't played XIII yet >.> My expectations are low though, I hope to be suprised). I can't be the only one that feels that way. Was there anyone else that actually appreciated Halo for what it was and not just as another capture the flag game?
Oh, and I am looking forward to the Halo movie when it comes out. Don't know when that'll be, but it's inevitable.
