It gives me a headache. I'm sure techno with an actual tune exists, but I never hear it in my daily life, and all the stuff I do hear does this:

Well, I would have no problem with techno except for this.

(Music starts)

Hmm, this is pretty nifty

(music continues)

Alright, it seems like they are adding a little bit to this song now, this is picking up nicely.

(music continues)

Been a bit of the same thing for a while

(music continues)

hmm...

(Music stops, beat changes)

Alright, I was beginning to get worried

(Beat resumes normally)

Oh...

(song ends)

Well now

I wouldn't have any problems, but Techno is really just beats that never really go anywhere. Great at parties, where they are in the back of your head, fueling that Party Fever, but just rather lame anywhere else.)
I like my songs to have some variety. I did like that Hot Butter one though. Mild, yet tuneful.
LISTEN TO ANIMAL COLLECTIVE. THEY ARE SO EFFING GOOD.

That was certainly... interesting.
Once you get over the inherent weirdness of their tracks, you start to hear how it all works together, and it's so amazing. Just listen to it four or five more times.

I'm a huge fan of classic D&B and Jungle, along with early 2000's D&B and most of Aphex Twins collection (including his 26 mixes).

But recently I've been listening to a lot of Dubstep. It started off as a novelty, but then I realised why it pushed all the right buttons. It has an aggressive, almost menacing pace combined with massive dirty rolling basslines........the sort of basslines that would actually kill cunts like Pendulum!

Anyway, this is the one that managed to unscrew some of the plastics in my car when I unleashed the full 1000w (rms)!

Still got love for the old school though, that'll never change.

Dumping three tracks.

<youtube=49P4GUA4AIY>

This seems to be the only track from Newbuild on youtube. It's a shame since Sync/Swim and Compulsion are fucking awesome. Newbuild is not as popular as Ninety or Ex;el, but is still one of the most important albums in acid house, cited as a huge influence by Autechre and Aphex Twin. A true milestone in dance music.

<youtube=gGF_czERZaY>

The album SUBHUMAN was released at Comiket 77 and features music inspired from Serial Experiments Lain. It mainly consists of industrial and dark ambient, but then there are songs like Re:Duvet which borrow from so many different types of music that it's hard to put it in one category. Is it industrial? Ambient? Freestyle rap? Breakbeat? A ballad? Shit if I know.

<youtube=xOHUw5T36ro>

After Hard Normal Daddy, Tom made Music is Rotted One Note, which abandons the Amen Break sample he has whored out and instead uses recordings of his own instrument playing, and the final product is jazz-fusion inspired drum and bass. My favorite release by him is HND, but I will not deny that MiRON is his true magnum opus, with a mature sound that is not seen in any other release he has put out to date.

Also I fucking hate dubstep and one of the only people who can do it well is Burial because it's not WOBWOBWOBWOBWOBWOBWOBWOBWOBWOB garbage.

Funny you should mention Aphex Twin, he remixed this track for 26 Mixes For Cash. It has a great bassline around the midpoint breakdown, although you need a sub that can get down to about 40Hz!

WHERE IS DAFT PUNK? Where is Daft Punk? Seriously dude. I'm not sure if it's techno but it certainly is electronic.
Why would one discuss French House in a techno thread?

But nuts to that. Discovery was great, but I can see why it was met with mixed opinions because it was completely different from Homework. Still haven't listened to Human After All because I'm hesitant because almost everyone I have heard talk about HAA said that it was crap on the few rare occasions it does come up into a Daft Punk discussion.
Them being French is kinda irrelevant, and the OP had a special section for house, soo... I think Daft Punk was needed here.

Human After All is different, but still great, and most critics have said that the live mixes of Human After All tracks make up for a lot. Check out the album Daft Punk Alive, it is truly their best album.

OP: I think the word you are looking for is 'EDM' rather than 'Techno'.

And as for the music, I like it, I frequently attend Rave parties... so yeah... I'm generally into Hardcore and Goa-/Psytrance (with subgenres), but I enjoy the occasional Breakbeat and Terrorcore as well.

Goa-/Psytrance
Hardcore
Gabba/Terror-/Speedcore
Breakbeat

Yes, techno and various subgenres are my choice of music whether you are talking about techno specifically or are just using it as a catch all word for electronic dance/ambient/chillout music. Speedcore, gabba, hard techno and acid techno are my favourites but basically anything that might come under the hardcore techno label.
I used to make my own and DJ at a few squat parties and raves 5-15 years ago and Simon Underground said a few of my tunes were potential releases but then as happens to a lot of ravers too many hard drugs and crazy women knocked me out of the rave circles and crushed my creative spirit. I still have the equipment and all the tunes but the will to mix and create has gone.
Yeah, the drugs are a *****... It's kind of sad they have to be associated with the rave scene, because the music and people themselves are nice, but as soon you bring hard drugs into it, people get so fucked up it's not funny...

You don't happen to have examples of anything you've produced yourself?

Sounds more like Breakbeat Hardcore to me tbh, which is kind of the precursor to Happy Hardcore.

Yeah, I think I have most of it on mp3 or wav lying around somewhere as well as having everything I made backed up on the original sequencer programme although I don't have that installed atm. Someone else asked if I could post them on an electronic music thread a while back but I don't know how to do that with music.

PS: Beat you to it with GFB Speedcore Lacrima :p

Dubstep is the only kind of electronic music I kind of like. Even then I only like it to dance to while on drugs.

I like techno but I know very little about it and this thread is being super helpful. I really like this song but i'm not sure if it qualifies as techno or not.

I like some techno, preferably the stuff that classifies itself as Electronica.

Speaking of which, I made an entire album [http://www.villafuzz.net84.net]'s worth of Electronica in the weekend... I can haz feedback?
Woah, holy shit dude, I have an electronica band no one listens to as well! I have some stuff on Youtube. Name is x^2. you can look it up if you like. You'll have scroll down a lot though.

There are so many of us.

As for feedback, well yes, you can has. I listened to every track, and I can say that all of them are pretty good. Rockin' Alive, Haze, My Twisted Massacre, and Coldstorm were the best tracks in my opinion. You might want to try polishing your sound a little bit. The first couple of tracks especially seems very empty and bare, and could definitely be helped by some reverb or something. Try making the sound more finished, I think is the best word. Make sure the tracks are complete before putting them up. But the Album you've got up there is good and is definitely going on my iPod in the event of a download link.

I suppose you could try uploading the sound files to one of those file-hosting sites, and just throw the links at people.

Speedcore Lacrima is a nice track, kind of a melodic quality that I've found hard to find in most similar tracks by other Djs.

Might give that a go. It's a bit late to start fiddling around now where I am but I'll bookmark this page and give it a go tomorrow.

Sticking a bit of classical on behind a speedcore drumbeat works pretty well, the contrast of the fast drumbeat and the violins works nicely. I've got a few doomcore tracks that do similar things.

You're probably right on the genres. I was never that good at knowing the specifics of all of them. I'm really diggin that Gabba Front Berlin.

This is one big reason I love this music. There is so much of it out there just waiting to be discovered. I had to stop myself back in the day from spending nearly all of my money on music. Then the internet comes around and its like christmas morning all the time with new music everywhere.

EDIT: Just listened to your stuff and Missing Pieces was my favorite. Nice job.

Wow, you're the first person to like Rockin' Alive o_O
I tried looking for your music, but I can't find it... link plz?
Thanks for the feedback, too.
