I thought about doing one of those self congratulatory "OMG, look at post count, aren't I super. Hoheehoheeho!" threads but a) it seemed stupid and self indulgent (yes, more so than a thread about sheep, shut up!) and b) they seem to have fallen out of style in recent weeks. So instead I wish to profess my love for the 'Scapists and the Escapist in general. So STRAP IN!

Y'know, past 6 months have been a rather rough time for me, rough as it can be for a middle class white boy without removal or insertion of limbs off from and into important places, but t'Scapist has kept me (mostly) sane. I've never felt part of anything until I came here, and I know y'all probably don't recognize me but still. So yeah, I love you guys. Each and every one of you. The community, the contributors, everyone.

The mods who help keep us free from trolls and the stupids.

The community who aren't a bunch of dicks.

The article writers who write some of the smartest and wittiest journalism ever.

The video-peeps who are all fucking fantastic.

The communicast that I swear I'll get around to in a bit.

OT (such as it is):

I get what you mean about enjoying the Escapist community. I spend WAY too much time here, avoiding having a real life outside of work and sleep.

The truth is I've got better friends--so to speak--here at the Escapist than I do in RL. That's what happens when it's all work--then you go home until it's time for more work.

And I'm new enough to Chat rooms and such to find the ease of communicating in Real Time to folks all across the planet--sharing silly and serious opinions and bad jokes etc--to be quite thrilling.

I like Spiderman, but I'm sick of this whole should he be married/single debate. He should be perpetually teenaged, as that's when life shits on you the most, and Spiderman is all about having life shit on him. He should not age to his mid-thirties then stop.

I like my hair when it's short. When it gets long, it curls up into a giant Jew-fro, and that doesn't look very professional.

1. Yes, mods are doing a great job, however forum health meter has cost us lot of old veteran members that basically had celebrity status here just because the forum health heals far too slow and every one sometimes stumbles and writes something short.

2. Yes. Unless it comes to religion & politics or consoles vs PC. Then 50% of our population turns into raging monkeys tossing shit at each other. 40% ignore such threads and so you never see them and so only around 10% of people will have proper post in such threads. My guess at least.

3. Yes. But while I don't read everything, I noticed that they too are not perfect. Still, not enough evidence for me to mention anything (except that one guy really liked to set fire between PC and console users but I don't even remember his name anymore)

4. Yes. Some have rather strong opinions so I don't think that they are all loved by everyone but I like it more this way. Too bad that extra credits aren't here any more.

5. And yes again. And no buts this time. People on escapist are the color spectrum of opinions. And thats why I love them all, even those with exactly opposite opinions than me.

As for your real discussion, I don't like spiderman and my hair I fabulous.

Considering I just recently reached my 1000th post also I feel entitled to also give my opinion, if you'll permit it.

1. Ehh, most of the time they are good, but some of the punishments for relatively minor violations I think are unfair, and the moderators are unrelenting in that. (I recently recieved 5 warning points for a single post. I'm still burning about that, forgive me)
2. Mostly, yeah. The ones who really stick with you though are the ones who are total dicks. They're also quite often the most fun to argue with.
3. The articles, I agree, are mostly very well done. I have really not seen an article I didn't like.
4. Yep. That's about my view on it too. They do an excellent job.
5. Communicast? Eh. I know how you feel. Maybe one day.
