Does anyone else miss WWII games? I never got tired of WWII like many did, and I for one mourn their passing. Hopefully a developer makes a new WWII game soon. What do you think?
That's actually a good point. You'd think there would be a lot more WW2 games that aren't an FPS. I'd love to see and Assassin's Creed set in WW2, maybe a female Russian/British assassin. That would be awesome.fundude365 said:The trouble with the above comments is that they assume that the only possible games from WWII are first person shooters. WWII was a period of human history of such stunning human achievement that its impossible that the only game you could make is a call of duty style shooter; how about a hitman style stealth game about SOE operations in German-occupied France, or maybe Tank commander style games where you work up toward becoming a Tank-ace on either side of the conflict.
The saboteur had a bold stab at opening up the genre to open-world stealth-em-up gameplay and was damn good fun. But it had serious issues; the framerate would slow down to a crawl in sections and with the quality of the graphics that was inexcusable and there was little to no replay value unless you count blowing up all of the Nazi's shit in the Game, but apart from that I had a great deal of fun throughout my time playing the Saboteur, especially since it allowed me to play a WWII-ish world from another perspective. (Additionally the villains were so moustache twirlingly, opera cape swishingly evil that they were a joy to watch mince across the screen).
So its certainly not a dead genre by any reasonable measure, it just needs a chance to wash the Call of Duty stink out of its hair, so just enjoy a couple of years without it... it'll be back (and hopefully it'll bring mecha-hitler with it!)
That would be awesome and I'd be outside the store at 9 oclock on release date for that gameDaystar Clarion said:That's actually a good point. They would have if most of them didn't suck...=/Ghostwise said:Did the 10,001 titles released in the last decade not quench your thirst? lol.![]()
Or just a Weimar soldier.Ace of Spades said:I'd really like a game from the perspective of a German soldier who didn't fully understand the workings of the country for which he fought, but that game will never be made.
