Also try Serious Sam 3. awesome game and finishing it on Normal can be a bit challenging. Mostly the last levels. Than try replaying it on the harder modes, shit gets intense. though i prefer Survival anyway. That's like impossible because you WILL die, that's the point of survival mode lol. the trick is seeing how long you can avoid death.

Try nethack, its a very old roguelike that you can play for free. One of the hardest games out there.

Any of the Monster Hunter games, Dark Souls, Demons Souls.

Ah, and, if you'd like a more open ended challenge, I dare you to play EVE and achieve a corporation capable of owning half the system. Don't care how you do it, don't care what means you use. If half the universe is under your name and control, you win.

Better seperate games into 2 categories then.

1. Games that use fake difficulty such as hiding information from you, poor documentation, dying from random events, absurd twitchy reflexes and poor controls. This was a common tactic to lengthen the lifespan of NES era games.

2. Games where the difficulty stems from the complexity of the metagame and with a high skillcap (the strongest players can beat a starting players dozens of times over)

I assume you want games in the second category. My main recommendation would be either a strategy game such as the Civilization series, or the Action-RPG Monster Hunter.

Since many good games that I was thinking were already said I am going to toss in a couple of games. The Painkiller series was a really good shooter series, and Hard Reset was also a great challenging fps.

I am not sure if it was on your list of games but The Witcher games have a bit of a difficulty curve and tend to have some interesting things

Bet you never played "Distorted Travesty" before...

It's hard and it has a lot of references to other video games as well. I'm not sure what you would call it, but I think it's kind of like if IWBTG was an RPG / Metroidvania (more fair of course, but will still die a lot all the same.)

If it makes you feel better it's rumored that the creator of the game HIMSELF can't beat the final boss on the hardest difficulty.

So ya check it out if your interested:

(Downloads on right if you can't find em')

Well, you've covered a lot of games. Try Dungeon Defenders or Defense Grid. Challenge yourself in those games. Try left 4 dead 2. It includes all of the left 4 dead maps plus the new specials. Hard to do with bots cause bots are stupid, but maybe get some expert mode games going. Anyway, I had a lot of fun with those.

Ok, you can try the free PC version of La-Mulana (Oh wait, there's a remake for PC also). You'll have to do screen caps and take notes to beat this Indiana Jones-like action platformer. I hope you're not a graphics supremacist.

I think you're done, dude! Congrats. You beat gaming!... or at least its greatest challenges that immediately popped into my mind....

Seriously though, i saw someone put Super Meat Boy. Besides great music it's extremely challenging and rewarding.

clarity on when I say challenge. A game where its either micro intensive, have to use your brain and doesn't have a cut scene every ten seconds. I dont give two fobs about the type of game it is as long as it is considered worthy of recognition by people such as yourself (ill be the judge when I look it up)

I going to give Planescape Torment a go, seems easy and cheap also cause I was waiting for the baldurs gate enhanced to come out and now its delayed I need it to fill the gap. Might get super meat boy later, cause I just got binding of issac and then they put that special bundle up and makes me feel I just wasted money if I go buy that right now.

Oh and Ive got CK II, Left for dead 2, Titan Queest Immortal Throne, New Vegas as well just quickly wrote the list. Oh I got mass effect 1 + 2 as well but refuse to have MA3 because of origin software.

I dont state ive beaten gaming lol and I have modded a lot of games and played through games twice or so with limited bullet usage ect ect. I was trying to find a bundle pack for Stalker series with all 3 games but I have yet to find such a thing also.

Try out FTL. It's like $9 on Steam.

Right now I'm working on as many shiptypes and layouts as I can on easy... I die far to quickly on hard.

And if you can beat the rebel flagship, even on easy, tell me how....Please?

Looking for something challenging?
Serious Sam is what you're looking for.
You're always the most dangerous thing in the game no matter what, but the game throws so many enemies at you in so many different ways that it never gets old... or easier.
Just when you think things are under control, the game throws another curveball at you.
