Hello Escapists!

Right, I've been meaning to do this for a while, but I've finally got the spare money to hand and nothing else I'd rather buy instead. I need to buy a headset for my PC. I'll mostly be using it for gaming, especially things like Left 4 Dead and Eve Online. I'm looking for a decent headset with good sound quality, that has a mic, is fairly comfortable to wear for extended periods and will last me a while. I don't have tons to spend on the ultra high-end, but I don't want some cheapo £5 tat that will break in a month. My budget is roughly around £30, give or take a few quid. I could possibly push it to £40 if I really had to.

So I was wondering, does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?

I don't know what the dollar-pound ratio is right now, but if you're willing to stretch your budget a bit, get a Logitech G35. I have one and it's awesome. Sound Quality, reliability, mic quality, everything you can want out of a headset mic, plus a bit more.

It's also wired and usb-based, so make sure you have open USB ports.

Also, if you're gonna use it with any multiplayer Valve game, you need to open the developer console and type in sv_voiceenable 1
You only have to type it in once.
The number after sv_voiceenable is voice transmission quality, from 1-5, 1 being lowest, 5 being highest.

Hope that helps. PM me if you have more questions.

I really reccomend getting a wired one, not a bluetooth one like me. They have clearer sound and you don't need to charge them...
Yes, that was my intention. I've currently got a wireless mouse and keyboard and changing the batteries on those is annoying enough.

I googled that and it does look nice, but unfortunately it's quite a bit too pricey for my budget. Thanks for the tip for the Valve games though, I didn't know that.
