So escapist i need a new game. Its the summer and I am bored. So can anyone tell me a good game to get.

I dont want people mentioning the big blockbuster titles because everyone knows about them. I was thinking of games that may have got bad reviews but you actually thought they were quite fun or games that fly under the radar.

EDIT = I have a PS3, Xbox 360 and a pretty top spec PC. It does not matter what genre the games are as i would like to try anything that other people have enjoyed

Metro 2033 is something under the radar. I haven't played it, but I heard it was good. I recently finished Dante's Inferno and loved it. And Red Dead Redemption. A blockbuster title, but for a goddamn reason. That game eats up time. And it's fun and engrossing. Condemned 2 is another suggestion. Oh, and Dark Void I liked.

Pokemon HeartGold/Soulsilver is regarded as childish (Sometimes), so I'm counting it.
It is one of the deepest RPG's ever made, and once you beat the campaign, the Wifi battles are incredibly fun!

I suggest you get onto Steam and have a look at some of the games on there. Look at the games that are listed under £7 and under £4. You might like what you see and you get them real cheap and real quick.

Metro 2033 is a very good game, although the atmosphere is really strong and it gets quite scary sometimes =S

OT: Mount & Blade warband: Best combat system I've ever seen in a game, I mean, it's just amazing. And the multiplayer is very good and popular too!

Might cost you a little sanity on the initial run. I met the majority of recommended specs (the only one being not having a video card supporting Shader Model 3) and it would always crash on startup.

If you haven't played Skate, I'd recommend it. It takes a while to master and it's damn satisfying doing tricks. My friends always say "it's too realistic, not like Tony Hawk", but it really isn't all that realistic when you learn how to play it, the controls are just made specifically for the pad and it requires more precision and thought, rather than jumppressBdomelonlandlulz. You can do some badass stuff on it, for example this [http://skate.ea.com/user/gallery?personaId=186173906&platform=xbox#itemId=872116]. Super motherfuckin' powerslide, cheaaa. Shaun White Snowboarding is also good, although it got rated quite averagely. It's game like these that make me appreciate owning an Xbox.

You're post is pretty vague though so I have no idea what platform you're asking for, or what genres you like, you could try an MMO like WoW or Eve, or get Garry's Mod, that can list you ages if you like fucking about.

It's kind of hard to reccomend games if I don't know what you're looking for or what games you have. Anyway, i'll suggest the usual games I do. Roll call...

Shadow of the Colossus (it isn't very long, around 10-12 hours, and there isn't much replay value, but there's no other game or experience quite like it)

Ico (see Shadow of the Colossus)

idunno...infamous?

Um lets see now....

Borderlands-Its big but my friends don't seem to have heard about it.

DJ Hero-It is really fun I thought it was just a sell-out but it's awesome.

GTA San Andreas-Always fun to go back too.

Saints Row Two-The amount of stuff to do by simply fucking about is outstanding.

Dawn of War 2 on PC. It's hours of Warhammer 40K awesomenicity, and it's a cool mix of RTS and RPG. The first Dawn of War is also extremely badass, especially with all it's expansions but it's markedly different game, as it's a straight up RTS game.

I would vote for Transformers War for Cybertron it blew my mind how well it was put together plus the online fights were totally fun. Or I would hold out for Kayne and Lynch 2 because the demo was very fun.

"Not blockbuster" is probably a step in the right direction considering how much of that stuff is casual-friendly crap targeting people who know nothing about games. However, I still can't recommend any game to anyone unless they give me some kind of clue as to the type of games they enjoy.
