i have a 8 gig flash drive and i want to use it for some kind of utility other than storage. possibly as a boot-able drive or something. can you guys suggest something and give me instruction if you can.

You can put some flavours of linux on it, which is cool, but not all PCs can boot from USB drives. But the poster about that linked to portable apps has the right idea also.

If you have Vista or 7 (Possibly XP too?) You can create a boot disk with it so that if you get amnesia and forget your windows login password, you can use the Flash drive.

Right now I just keep mine blank on a lanyard hanging from the top of my desk by a nail.
