I've recently fixed my badass laptop and my boyfriend has a new laptop and we've decided to jump back into the world of MMO's.

I know of a few, but what are some very fun and stand out MMO's out there?

I don't have much of a preference, so I'm up for any type of game.

Please try to tell me why the MMO you picked is good. I want details please.

Urban Dead, if your into something... different.

Dead Frontier is also good, but stay the fuck away from the Radio, and forum.

And for the record, there both zombie MMO's.

What? Don't judge me!

EDIT: there also both free to play.

WoW is pretty good. Took me four years to get bored of it.
EVE is great if you like a challenge.
Star Trek Online - really don't bother, even if you like Star Trek.

What makes them good games? Besides being free.
I do enjoy zombies, so it sounds decent, but what really makes the games worthwhile?

MapleStory is kinda fun. Although, I might be saying that just to get someone interesting to talk to on there.

I had MapleStory for a while, but I just had trouble really getting the feel of it. It seems enjoyable at higher levels, but the low level stuff is a bit of a bore. Maybe I should have played it for longer.

Cabal Online is alright
Requiem Bloodymare is also alright
both of them are free.
You meen a MMORPG?
Because if you just want a MMO Warrock, eXteel and league of legends are pretty good
As for paying for MMORPGs WoW is fun and I don't care if people disagree.

I have not played it but have heard some good things about D&D Online

Edit: Just remembered, if you are not a fan of quests or dungeons you could always play MU Online.

You could try and get in the APB Beta, it's free and a very fun, even though you can only play it for 4 hours every Sunday. Then, if you like it, you could anxiously wait for its release like me. :/

Champions Online has a demo too without a time limit, it's quite fun, and only £3 with a free month off Play.com, you can't really go wrong for 3 fucking pound.

WoW had me for a long time but i dropped it once i realized i don't have time to do any end game stuff.
FFXI: Is a game that could have been great if they didn't cock it up with the crappy auction house and trade system.
Galaxies: I get a pain in my stomach when i think about this one. Originally the only bad thing about it was the graphics. Then they gutted it and made it into WoW in space.
FlyFF: Uggh.... You get to be a pre-pubesent boy or girl... And the only content is grinding.... No.
FFXIV: Looks like it might actually be pretty good if they follow through with the rich trade system they are promising.
Star Wars from bioware: There's something there that could be pretty cool. Unless it becomes WoW in space again...
Star Trek: My trekkie friend almost shit a brick when it was announced. He then got into the Beta and apparently uninstalled the game and became depressed for a few days. That's how disappointed he was.

I recommend Dungeons and Dragons online (free to play) and Guild Wars (1 time transaction) those are both huge games that are much different from all the other MMO's ;)

btw, only wait for The Old Republic if you're a Star Wars fan, as for myself (not such a big fan), I am waiting for TERA online, Blade & Soul, Guild Wars 2 and LOCO :p

A good MMO? Hah! No such thing.

Actually no, that is incorrect.

There is Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO) which is good because there is NO GRINDING (unless you're into that, in which case, you can). It's free, too.

There is Guild Wars, which has an extremely polished and fun combat system. PVP is really fun, and I usually hate PVP in games. Pay once to buy the CD, then play for free. There are multiple games though, each with different classes, storylines, and lands.

Try these out. And please, don't play WoW.

Urban Dead is based around one big server, Malton, along with that, you can only preform 50 actions per day, meaning it requires planing. Along with that, it's only shown thru text, so it requires use of your IMAGINATION!

As for Dead Frontier, it's a set in a bird's eye view, and functions similarly to standard MMO, where you travel into the zombie infested city, looting the buildings and revoering items to sell on the Player market.

The game can be played both in single player and multiplayer, meaning that if you'd rather spend some time killing some zombies, or loot alone, you don't have to worry about random player's jumping in.

<color=purple> WoW. It is great. If you have never played it, give it a try. Some get bored faster than others, and some get addicted, but most can enjoy this game for some time.

City of Heroes (and Villains, by extension) isn't as flashy as most, but it's very well designed, has excellent character building, painless leveling and questing, and an alarmingly low Jackass Ratio among it's player base. It's also still the only MMO I know of that has a level editor (available practically from the start, too).

I hate to say it but to be perfectly honest if your going to go with an MMO just go with WoW. It is the king of mmo's for a reason.
