I just bought KotOR off of Steam today, and after the hours it took to download, I can't get it to work. I did some research and found a forum post with a link that took me to this site [https://support.securom.com/?referer=http://www.securom.com:80/download/support/customers/lucasarts/kotor_t081/swkotor.zip]. As you can tell, the thing that was going to help me no longer exists, for whatever reason. I looked at the FAQ, and from what I can tell, it would have only worked with the disc. Do any of you guys know what to do? EDIT: I just realized I didn't put my OS. It's Windows 7, if it matters. Every requirement it lists on the Steam page, my computer meets, except it's on 7 and not XP or Vista.

Argh. I hate having to bump my own threads. I also hate that feeling you get when you see a new thread instantly get five comments, and when your own gets none.

Wats the error mesage?...Cuz it sounds like the game says you don't have the right CD-Key..which means its of to Steam Support for you...Where they will:

A. Give you a New Key
or
B. Tell you to E-Mail your Key to Securom

And thats the best i can guess with the limited information lol.

The only thing I can think of that can help you is cracking the game with a No-CD crack, but it is against the rules of Escapist for me to post one for you, as far as I can tell. Visit Google, search for one, but be careful and use your head, you might download a virus.

Note that this will remove the game from requiring STEAM, but if you add the shortcut to STEAM, then you get your overlay back.

Just your standard "Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic has stopped working" messages.

Actually from reading the stuff posted on the Steam Fourms for the Game then it appears that this is a WideSpread problem with drivers and OpenGL.

Theres 2 options to fix:

Update your files directly.
http://www.filefront.com/17248996/atioglxx10_4.rar (ATI 10.4 Drivers File)

http://www.filefront.com/17248859/atioglxx10_1.rar (ATI 10.1 Drivers File)

http://www.filefront.com/16696483/atioglxx.rar (ATI 9.11 Drivers File)

Just place the file inside your GameData folder and give it a go.

OR

Steam\steamapps\common\swkotor there are a file called "SWCONFIG"

in you click here i screen will appear and there is the option that let you to disable the movies without using DLL or old drivers!

And thats all i could find so i hope it helps.

Knights of the old republic doesn't work like that

-Upgrade your video cards firstly (go to control panel and look around for something that might work for it and if you can't find it use game booster 2)

-What video card do you have? Check control panel to figure out

-Go to control panel, search trouble shooter, and there should be the option to run programs meant for previous versions of windows

do this then get back to me and PM me or quote me for help.

does it crash right at start?
Yes, the second it starts up.
You said windows 7, did you try the usual "turn off visual effects and desktop composition" method? ...add in some compatibility mode stuff.

That's all I had to do :x Though I know there are tons of fixes out there.

He could not have a ATI driver you know :p
Edit: Get a Nvidia driver because your driver obviously doesn't support open GL, if you are a kid then you should ask a family member if you can use their computer and test it out.
