No one has done a rickroll yet? YES. This is the best forum ever.

In seriousnessness though, I am a third-wave ska guy, so Reel Big Fish, Less Tham Jake, Save Ferris, Aquabats, and all those other populate my music, but I think the one I really enjoy is Streetlight Manifesto.

What's this? Music people haven't suggested?!

The Rural Alberta Advantage [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GupdrkZMYpA], they're an awesome indie punk band with folk influences, straight up amazing stuff.

Audio/Rocketry [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZht6eQdRkg] is another awesome band from Alberta, they're more folk but still with very identifiable punk influences.

[url-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK1bi4emEkk]Modest Mouse[/url] should be a given for anyone, some of the best indie rock ever recorded right here.

Dinosaur Jr [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfSaHanm9tM&feature=relmfu] is another indie rock band, a bit more accessible than Modest Mouse, too.

Neutral Milk Hotel [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCxEWPLDg5c] is the holy grail of indie music. Jeff Mangum is one of the best writers of all time, and his soulful vocals and guitar playing just makes his music some of the best ever recorded.

Ooh, and I forgot Piana too. Dreamlike music with ambient and glitch influences, but very listenable and sweet. Her "Snow Bird" is the only album I've ever heard that has made me cry (actually cry). That has to count for something. It's not particularly sad music (nostalgic, if anything), I just find it profoundly moving.

Gutevolk is kind of a similar musician, her music is a little more upbeat though, occasionally with what I can only describe as a jazzy feel to it.

Also Sawako, but that's more drone/ambient.

And um, some more..
Plus-Tech Squeezebox: I am an unashamed fan of Shibuya-kei. If you've never heard of it, it's kind of a mix of Bossa Nova, J-pop, Hip-hop and Electropop. You may notice that that sounds like a bad idea, but it really works in practice. Trust me. Plus-Tech Squeezebox are further on the electropop side than many other artists, but I think it works in their favor. Goddamned catchy songs.

Yukari Fresh: Another shibuya-kei artist, she leans more on hiphop elements (sampling, warm thick drums) and still makes some really catchy pop songs.

Ground Zero: In this case I'm referring to the Otomo Yoshihide jazz/noise rock/metal group. Seriously insane music. Mixes a lot of different influences into something really unique. Otomo Yoshihide's New Jazz Orchestra is kind of the same thing.
There's also Limited Express (has gone?), Shonen Knife, Satoko Fujii, The 5.6.7.8's, Takako Minekawa, The Flying Luttenbachers, Trs-80, Hazel Nuts Chocolate, Macdonald Duck Eclair, Fennesz, Boris, 2562, Ikue Mori, Hella, Shellac, Kiiiiiii, Chieko Mori, Michiyo Yagi, Oval, Puzzleweasel, Soundmurderer and MIDORI (the punk band, not the other ones).

I want to write a little about all of them (and the ones I posted earlier) but it is damned late over here and I've already posted too much in this thread.

Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. Not very creative as far as naming their band goes, but they are amazing. Ohio is one of my favorites.
Cream. White Room is my favorite song by them. Very heavy on the Clapton, which you know I like =P.
Chevelle is a good modern band. I've already pre-ordered their greatest hits album so that should be awesome. I'll lend that to you.
Goo Goo Dolls. Very distinctly rock. When I was younger my sister played them a lot, and then as I got older I listened to them more and really liked them.
Better Than Ezra.

I support Smashing Pumpkins, Anberlin, Mogwai, and Silversun Pickups. Don't really know the rest at all so I don't want to post an opinion on them.

I'm a "Independent" music person generally. I would recommend Death Cab for Cutie, Iron & Wine, Radiohead and for some variety check out Nine Inch Nails, Trapt and Breaking Benjamin for some heavier modern Rock.

A lot of great bands have been mentioned.

For some newer, less-known indie (-cough-hipter-cough-) music you should take a look at Geographer and, for some awesome new FREE music, google Commissioner Jams Gordon - it's named after the author/artist of Dr. McNinja's dog and has probably the cutest website I've ever seen.

Also I don't think anyone's mentioned Girls, which is a great band with a sound similar to a modern Beach Boys.

I'll just give you every artist/band I listen to. I'll also hyperlink one of their songs, their genres and what language they use. (If language isn't labelled, it's English.) Genres in quotations are either what the band identifies themselves as, or what best describes them. Some of these bands will be obscure or independent. Most of them can be found on iTunes, but for those that aren't there, I will provide links to their appropriate MySpace of Facebook pages.

I left out some of the bands for time. They were the really obscure ones, but you can generally find them through bands that are on this list. You'd better appreciate me for this.
