I need some advice about Fallout New Vegas.

Much better than Fallout 3, in my opinion. For 15$, it's an absolute steal. It's well written, unlike Fallout 3. Much more morally ambiguous, even though it keeps the karma system that Fallout 3 had, it doesn't revolve around it like Fallout 3 did. Fallout 3 has some things over it, but overall I enjoyed New Vegas much more.

In some respects, yes. It's better.

The story is miles better because it actually gives you a lot of choice. The writing is far superior, the conversation is more riveting and the characters are far more memorable and diverse in their personalities and backgrounds, particularly Yes Man and Arcade Gannon. The reputation system makes for some difficult moral choices while the ones in Fallout 3 are generally black and white. It also does a great job of handling sexuality. Their's quite a few gay characters for whom their sexuality is one of the smaller things about them. Their not stereotypes either.

I will say that Fallout 3 has a better setting, It just feels more....apocalypticy. The side quests are also higher quality than the side quests in New Vegas, even though there's far less of them.

I played the game for 70 hours withouot encountering any glitches. I played it a couple of months back, so I'm pretty sure that most of the bugs are gone now. It's worth a buy, especially considering the price of it right now.

I've just stated Fallout:NV-I'm a level 6 character-and so far, I can't say that I'm all that impressed. By this I mean; it's a fine game but it's Fallout 3 in Vegas, so far.

Nothing WRONG with the game-small glitches but nothing making me unable to play so far-but nothing impressive either.

So if you can get New Vegas cheap, go for it! My experience is that both games are pretty cool and despite glitchiness, you really can't go wrong with either of them.

fallout new vegas is less atmospheric than fallout 3, but better in every other regard, word of advice if your going to play fallout 3 play it before New vegas because the gameplay is improved so much you cant go back

I'd absolutely recommend it over 3. Glitchiness aside, it's pretty much an improvement over 3 in every way that counts. The story is better, but more importantly, the actual characters themselves are far better: much more memorable, less grating voice acting. The quests are also more involved with more emphasis on choosing how you want to do it, and there's less dungeon crawling than 3, a huge improvement.

The game can get annoying when it borks a couple of quests, but there's usually work arounds.

Also, you get Felicia day as a sharp witted, power-fist wielding companion. What more could you want?

Don't forget the polishing of the shooting mechanics. I tried going back to FO3 for some DC ruins fun, but just couldn't get past how archaic the combat felt. FO:NV really did so much better in that respect, plus the companions worked so much better.

Ignore any bad press that New Vegas is getting here and just buy it already! it's funnier, brighter and more memorable than Fallout 3. The gameplay has also improved a lot as well. Factions also make for interesting developments and the open ending is great. Some of the characters are also unforgetable. The only thing this game lacks is some flashly modern graphics, but maybe thats not a bad thing as it adds to it's charm .

It actually depends, being a Fallout fanatic, I really think the two games are seperate games, which may seem obvious. Fallout 3 is leaning more toward survival. Of the Post Apocalyptia, Fallout 3 is the beggining, surviving a hostile world, and making the first steps toward taming it. Fallout New Vegas builds on that, focusing on shaping a developing society, not so much surviving the world as much as working with it.

Fallout 3 has a more epic story and a better world, but New Vegas uses the same engine to tell a different, more contained story.

Did I....miss something, when I played Fallout 3, and found the story to be a cookie-cutter tale of Evil, greedy rich people trying to harm the common man, forcing you to either do the rational, "good" thing, or the absolutely irrational and pointless "evil" thing, in the dumbest display of morality in any modern RPG?

OT: Get New Vegas. Choices actually matter. The Wasteland is not a giant, flat piece of mud with muddy buildings full of muddy people. The factions are actually interesting, instead of being "good guys" and "bad guys who's balls you can still suck, should you choose to be an utter psychopath". Also, it has better Role-playing gameplay.

it honestly depends, judging by all the fps's you do i would maybe suggest fallout 3 more, personally i found it complete garbage compared to fallout new vegas but as you can see opinions will defer quite a bit online, so honestly i would look into it a bit more online with some reviews and whatnot before making your decision.
