What's a good game to get on PS4? I have been looking at The Division but the reviews have been mixed at best. What's your guys opinion on this? Any suggestions?

Advice. A little more information could help, such as what you already have and what genre's you like. There's a lot I can recommend on the PS4 that is worth playing, but i'll be the one to start with the obvious Bloodborne :)

What kinds of games do you like? Single player? Multiplayer? Gameplay centric? Story driven? It all depends what you want to play.

The best games I have played on PS4 are The Last of Us and Bloodborne.

You might enjoy The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Lot of content for your money.

Don't worry if you haven't played the first two, it's not really necessary to enjoy the game. They are connected but even if you've played the other two games you might still miss some references if you haven't read all the books, and I don't think all of the books are even out in english.
first 2 especially 2 is far superior to 3rd one which is very boring game.

I would only suggest Division now if you have friends who will definitely play with you. Otherwise, it's hours and hours of walking around a snowy city shooting hundreds of the same enemy while picking up loot.

I would totally recommend The Witcher 3 if you have any interest in action-rpg's.

The combat requires some thinking, because you eventually have access to a large collection of potion buffs which help you fight the various types of enemies, and have 2 swords, 1 for creatures from earth, and one for monsters, although the game automatically grabs the correct sword at the start of combat. The world is pretty damn beautiful in some places, and ugly in others, and it fits the world. You also have a pretty good variety of skills to improve when you level up, with some physical skills letting you change up combo's in combat, and magic skills that change the behaviour of your 4 basic spells. Although to be fair, unless you're playing on hard or hardest, smacking things with your sword is usually enough, but then that's a choice for you to make.

And there's just so much to do...almost, too much. Dozens of little "?" are on the maps, and they're either a location, or treasure, and there are a lot of them. If you play like me and try to do as much as you can before progressing the story, then you may burn out on the game quickly, because there are literally dozens of hours worth of side stuff to do, which definitely leaves you overleveled for story quests. But the sidequests are usually so well done. There's always a little backstory to each quest, and plenty of them have multiple outcomes depending on how you want to play, be it agreedy monster slayer, helpful dude looking for gold, or even side with the creature you were sent to kill at the expense of getting paid.

And then there's just regular side stuff, like the Gwent card game, which I have no love for, but people like it, and the game will give you the chance to play it maybe a little too often. There's gear crafting too, which probably by level 10 should be your main source of equipment since the stuff you find lying around is usually underleveled, or just ugly. Witcher gear always looks great and outperforms stuff at the same level, and even a couple levels higher. And finding Witcher gear blueprints is kinda cool, since they're hidden all around the game world, but thankfully the game makes finding the sets fairly easy, thanks to quest tracking.

This game is also dripping with lore. There's a bestiary you can fill that explains some things about all the monsters you come across, as well as telling you what potions/bombs are effective against them. Tons of books to read to fill out stuff, and even the quest list is worth reading, because as you progress, the description of the quest's changes as if Geralt is writing them down as he makes progress. I thought it was a pretty cool touch when I noticed it.

Ooooh don't forget all the free stuff that they released for the game. A new costume for each of the leading ladies, a couple free quests, and other stuff that I can't quite remember, but it's all free.

The Digimon Cyber Sleuth game that came out a while ago is pretty good too if you like pokemon stuff. It's got a serviceable story, and some fun characters, ok, so pretty much just 1 fun character, a detective that thinks soysauce and (insert solid food here) are perfectly fine ingredients to put in coffee. It's all in japanese though, so you'll be doing a ton of reading text, which isn't too bad, but it makes the handful of translating/spelling errors a little more obvious. I can remember one instance of the word Nut being used instead of But. But if you like going out and having adventures with your own personal monsters that you raise up from scratch, then the game is definitely worth it. If you take out all the hours I spent grinding (gotta get those Megas!) then the game is at least 30-40 hours.

If you want a good FPS, then get Wolfenstein. A pretty lengthy single player shooter, I'd say like 14 hours minimum. It's got good controls, pretty visuals, and really believable characters. Whether it's the writing, or the delivery, whatever it is, the characters in this game are great, better than most games have ever done I'd say. Plus it's got the old wolfenstein trick of secret area's being hidden behind bookcases or behind a massive portrait, stuff like that. And it's got 2 paths that change how the "Home Base area" is populated, what upgrades you get (1 path gets you health, the other is armour) as well as very slightly changing the actual footpath you use to get through some levels. And the DLC portion is pretty good too, although everything good about the story/characters in The New Order(base game) gets compressed when you play The Old Blood(DLC) so instead of learning more about the characters throughout the length of the game, you get each characters backstory and motivations almost immediately, which I say is a mark against the DLC, because the base game does it so damn well.

Out of all those, I'd recommend The Witcher 3 the most, because there's just so much game there to be busy with IF you can get into the game. Great writing, great visuals, great quest design, great everything. And one of it's story DLC's are released, so that's another 10-15 hours of stuff right there, though I have yet to finish that part of the game...Really should get back to it at some point.

A good start would be The Last of Us or Bloodborne. So far those are standout titles, and they should be fairly cheap now. Bloodborne even has some DLC. Dark Souls 3 is coming out soon too.

I'm more inclined to suggest holding out for Nights of Azure. It looks fantastic.

Yeah, I have a blast playing this with friends. But alone or with randoms?

It's mediocre at best.

As for other game recommendations, OP, tell us what you want in a game.

Shadow Warrior. Choppy uppy, FPS katana weilding insanity with a variety of monsters and colourful characters. Sense of humour consistent throughout.

Outlast. A worthy survival horror with great pacing and playing with expectations.

SOMA. A frictional games horror of the existential variety.

Until Dawn. Surprisingly good, considering its source material.

Seconding The Witcher 3, Bloodborne, The last of us and Wolfenstein.

I would throw in Infamous: Second son and First Light. They at least have a visually enticing city to explore instead of New York for once. It isn't perfect but there are many unique moments of fun to be had with a more relaxed atmosphere contrasting the chaos that so often ensues.

Did i mention Shadow Warrior? ;)

Honestly I don't think there's a single game worth getting a new console for yet. Maybe in two or three more years there will be enough good games to justify yet another $400 console. But as it stands, just stick to the old gen or get a PC.

And even if you already, unfortunately, got a PS4...still just get a PC or plug in your PS3. It'll simply be more enjoyable.

Got mine for just a few games.

I ended up being a seemingly rare example who likes Killzone: Shadow Fall. HUGE step up from Killzone 3 and reintroduced some elements from the first game. A few of the missions even ditched the linearity the series was known for.

Gotta mention Fallout 4. Make post-apocalyptic Boston your *****! It's the kind of game you can get lost in for days.

Or, if you're up for some indie:

Yeah, it's the PS3 edition that's being reviewed here, but you can get it for the PS4 too.

Short but sweet, SittM brings to the table a decidedly Tim Schaefer-esque sense of humor, presenting a series of puzzles which must be solved by means of the game's unique and inherently bizarre logic - which nonetheless makes perfect sense once you start immersing yourself in the story.

Rocket League if you haven't yet. It's a bit tricky to get the hang of at first, but once you learn everyone's tendencies and get pretty good at predicting everyone's moves it's a fantastic game that's a lot of fun.

Infamous: Second Son is both technically impressive and quite fun to play, if a bit repetitive and short for an open world game.

I've played 12 hours of The Division so far. I'm about 50% through the main campaign (so it claims anyway) and I've done every side quest that has been offered to me so far. It's fun at first, even alone, but if you're going to continue playing alone, it will get old very fast.
Playing it with friends will alleviate this, especially if you take it in bursts rather than all at once.
It does have good third person shooting, and if progression through minute changes in numbers if your thing you might thoroughly enjoy yourself. However the story is completely forgettable and the characters even more so.
