I have just been given the task of finding out how to break a Phase 3 128-bit encryption on a hard drive so my friend can format it. I've never had to really do anything like this and I just signed up on ethicalhacker.net(I think thats what it's called) and I was just wondering, any links or tips that could help me out? It's much appreciated

Any kind of serious encryption will not be broken by a personnal computer in your lifetime, you might want to low-level format the drive instead, if you don't care about retrieving the data on it.

This made me laugh because Mekado is like 30 and the dude who said kiddie is like 17, bit backwards.

Anyway, I thought you might need help with like working your washing machine or something, I don't know anything about Phase 3s or what not, sorry buddy. But hey, we had a good laugh, right?

I was just being up my self 'cus I finally know something about a thread xD to be honest though the man is right, that is a very high standard encryption... not the best, but still a little overkill for home security!
It's fine, your way works too.I'm just used to dealing with users that wants the easiest, fastest way possible and since he will be formatting the drive anyways a low-level format would destroy the encryption.Oh and when i said "will not be broken by a personnal computer in your lifetime" i was talking about a brute-force cracker, which is usually the worst solution possible.

No hard feelings :) i just don't like to be called kiddie ;oP
