So. I'm home sick with a mild fever and several aches and pains/symptoms of some dastardly virus/infection that is liable to get worse with little to no warning. Not a fun time, but that's not necessarily the problem.

The problem lies with the fact that I have to take care of the puppy. Normally, I'd just give her some chew toys and make sure she goes out every few hours, but today she seems to be twice as energetic and destructive as usual.

Does anybody have any tips on how I can make sure the puppy's alright while still getting some rest?

It would be much appreciated. I don't want to just stick her in her cage or chain her up outside, as that's like fighting fire with gasoline. In other words, she'll be even more restless than before, and she won't let me forget it. Plus I'd just feel like a huge douche.

That's the problem with puppies...they basically require the same level of attention as a baby. Try calling some friends if you really can't take it, but otherwise just do your best. Be sure to show her who's boss, though--after you play, ignore her. No matter what she does, refuse to give her the attention she wants, even if it's disciplinary. She has to learn she can't always have your attention.
