I need some Minecraft help

Hi, I am trying to download the "John Smith" texture pack for Minecraft. It says to download the zip and use Mc_patcher to install it. The trouble is every time I download the texture pack its not a zip, its a folder.

Is there any way to turn it into a zip or am I just downloading the wrong stuff?

Does it actually have a .zip on the end? I've never messed with MC Patcher so it may be a mess up with that but the file I just got from the minecraft forums was a .zip
