Lets see if I can answer some of your questions. I'm not new to PC gaming I just got a PC that can handle more than windows 95. I still play older games like Delta Force: Task Force Dagger and the original Baldurs Gate. I have tryed PC RTS such as Starcraft, Warcraft 3, and Civilization 4 but I didn't like them. I am spending to much time with just one MMO. I like all shooters.
Civilization isn't an RTS, RTS stands for real time strategy and Civ is turn based. But I'll forgive you that since you're new to the PC.
Anyway you're still not giving me much to work with, but I guess I can suggest a few fps that are good on the PC.
Already mentioned STALKER, but if you want to try a 'true' PC style tactical shooter, look up SWAT 4. It's a few years old now but still holds up pretty damn well visually and features a sort of gameplay unique to the PC platform. Think Rainbow Six: Vegas, except more realistic and with a team to control rather just one guy and playing as police rather than soldiers. This means you're *not* allowed to just gun down entire rooms of enemies, police have rules after all. Goes against every 'gamer instinct' and is surprisingly addictive, if frustrating at times.
Unreal Tournament 2004 might also be worth looking into. Old, I know, but there's just so many mods for the game and the gameplay is just so fast and well put together it's a permanent fixture on my computer. I know there was a console version released, but believe me when I say playing it on the PC is an entirely different experience... which brings me to something else.

Morrowind and Dragon Age: Origins were GOD AWFUL on consoles. Trust me when I say you haven't played them until you've played them on the PC. TF2 is similar in that there have been at least ten free DLC packs released for PC only, and the dedicated servers have a lot of creative/interesting custom maps and mods. You may just not be into that type of FPS, but I thought I should let you know about the huge discrepancy there.
That is your opinion. I prefer all my games on console. I only play PC games if I cannot get them on any other console.
Usually I'd agree it's a matter of opinion, but for those games mentioned they truly and honestly
are superior on the PC. Not opinion, fact! Dragon Age was developed as a PC rpg after all, and entire features and tactical elements were cut entirely from the console release. PC supports not only mods, but a tactical overhead view, increased difficulty and tactical elements, higher resolutions and graphics, as well as all sorts of minor details that you wouldn't even notice are missing if you hadn't played it on the PC first.
Meanwhile in the case of Morrowind there's a library of hundreds of mods out there to support and enhance the game. Mods to increase the visual splendor, others to increase the size of the game world. Sound enhancements, gameplay tweaks, new races, classes, entire worlds to explore and spells to be cast. All at your fingertips!
As for Team Fortress 2, the game PC players are playing is so different from the console releases it could easily be a sequel. Valve have been steadily patching and enhancing the PC version all this time to such a degree it's almost an entirely different game in some aspects.
I know that it's common for snide PC elitist to say 'PC version is better' without explaining why, but in some cases they're right. In all honesty normally the only difference between the PC and console versions of a game is the resolution and graphics quality, but other times, hell, they're entirely different experience on the PC compared to their console counterparts. Trust me!
Still not sure what else to recommend. Wanna try some Diablo style rpg? Tactical style? Ever played a point & click adventure game? Wanna give those a try too? How about semi-rts games like Dawn of War 2, which doesn't play at all like either Starcraft or Warcraft? Or city builders?
Lots o games out there you'll have missed. Lots of genre you might not even have known existed.
PC is a whole different beast than consoles if you're willing to look into it seriously. Good luck and welcome to the club!
