I need some recommendations for PC games.

I've found myself getting more and more into PC gaming, though I'm not really sure where to go with it. I play some of the obvious titles like Minecraft, Team Fortress 2 and Portal 2, but to be honest, I don't know where to go from here. So that's why I'm asking you all for some recommendations. Call it lazy if you want, but I don't really know what to go for, what's got great multiplayer, or what are 'must haves' etc.

Here's a few things though.

1. My laptop isn't powerful. This is not a machine that will run Battlefield 3 (I don't think anyway, haven't tried it). I can play some more intense games provided the game is windowed with a lowish-res, with the graphics set to low, but it's something to bear in mind.
2. My favorite games are simple ones. I bought FTL: Faster than Light and it's one of the best games I've played on a PC (Hell, I was the first out of my friends to beat it, and I bought it last). I do like some more action games though. I'm gonna try and get the Half-Life collection while it's cheap just now on Steam for example. Most genres I'm ok with (Maybe not MMORPGs though)
3. It doesn't matter whether a game is single or multiplayer based. I'll play it regardless.

If anyone is willing to point me in the right direction, then I thank you in advance.

Killing Floor. It has super low system requirements. My friend has run it on a MacBook air with no problems. I'd look at older PC games. GOG.com has a great catalogue to choose from. Unreal Tournament 2004. System Shock 2. Fallout 1&2.

Bearing in mind the Steam summer sale may well start tomorrow. Always starts on a Thursday and has usually started by now. GamersGate also has a sale on at the moment, so might wanna keep an eye on that.

Im going to add in here the Bundle Stars bundles since they are dirt cheap and feature some older games that may hold your attention, although with the Steam Sales coming I only recommend you buying something that you think its worth the price (most of the bundles that are worth it are usually worth it because of a game that is usually a bit more heavy on the PC while the rest being a lot of crappy fillers, if you enjoy mindless top down shooters you may enjoy that GoreFest bundle for 1$).

Some are ending today I think so take a quick look
