Oh my God, Channel 4 appears to have every season streaming except season 25 [http://scrapbook.channel4.com/bookmarkBar/5088fecfe4b09659197f1f50].

More info: Season 25, episode 133.
"Beauty spa manager Porchia Lee hosts a French-themed dinner party. Porchia cooks chicken liver pate, pan fried chicken with tarragon sauce and crème brulee, but can't help concentrating on herself rather than her cooking, and there's a disaster in every course, including a pudding that reduces her guests to tears..."

Air date: October 24, 2012

Is it Loving You, by Minnie Riperton?

First thing I thought of when you said it had a lot of "la la la la la" in it.

TV shows seem to like using it.

Okay, I refuse to call it quits. I found a download for the episode in question but it turned out to be Come Dine With Me, just a different episode from a different season. So that was good.

In the meantime, I thought of one other song that's been on the show that's folky and has la la la's:

Also, if it's a French themed episode --seeing as Channel 4 are traditionally about as subtle as a sledgehammer to the temple-- you might want to check out the work of Edith Piaf or Joe Dassin:

I don't even know if that song has la's in it but it may sound similar to what you're after.

Haha, do you know what's funny, I was going to suggest The Passenger in my second post but I didn't think it would have been on Come Dine With Me.

Anyway, I'm glad you finally found out what it was.

Whaaaaat? I can't believe it. I was going to send that to you but I dismissed it as I assumed there was no way a TV show would use an Iggy Pop tune!

My minor lesson for today: never underestimate the BBC. The British love of music--all music, still astounds me to this day.

They play a really good mix of songs on that show, youd be surprised. After watching it all weekend trying to find the song again i have to admit its genuinely hilarious. I started to get really into especially when they have some proper tidy cougars (theres usually at least one per location) and they are usually sheer filth

British taste in music used to be good but now its dreadful. Cant believe one direction and the like come from the same country as the who, sabbath, AC/DC, fleetwood mac, the rolling stones, the jam, oasis and many more. Why have we gone downhill
