I have been browsing dog breeds as I am interested in purchasing one. I did own a Bullmastiff and I do like them but I want a different breed, my list so far looks like.

Irish Wolfhound http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_Wolfhound
Boxer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxer_(dog)
Neapolitan Mastiff http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neapolitan_Mastiff

But I am more interested in a different breed and this is where I need your help. On http://www.threadless.com/product/1586/RED there is a dog (on the guy's shoulder) and I had no idea what breed it is I have narrowed the search down to either Shiba Inu http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shiba_Inu or an Akita Inu http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akita_Inu

Or is it something completely different?

Please feel free to shout out other suggestion on what breeds to look into.

EDIT - Got an email back from threadless, the dog in the image is a Shiba Inu

I'm 90% sure the dog on his shoulder is an Akita Inu, judging by the facial structure and size at least. I love both breeds of dogs though, I'd say either makes a good pet.

To be honest, I'd advise you to keep away from pure breeds. They're normally inbred little demons. That said, Irish wolfhounds are amazing: huge dogs that don't need to be walked a long distance every day. As for the dog that you provided the links to, am I the only one who thinks those two dogs are pretty much exactly the same? You could try e-mailing threadless.com asking what breed the dog is, if it's that important.

I emailed the t-shirt designer and asked them, it is indeed a Shiba Inu.

Thanks
