I have money today, because I haven't been drinking as much, and therefore need to buy an Xbox 360 game to quench my thirst, the problem is I end up standing in the game shop for about half an hour to no avail. I'm not good at buying games, what should I buy?

you could save your money for a while and get one of the games soon to come out.
or you could get a game like Borderlands. It's fun for a while.
But really, only you can decide on a game good for you.

Depends how much money you got and what you like. If your into racing and plenty of cash buy forza 3. Most fun racing game i've played since mario kart 64.

Depends what you like, but personally I'd go with Fable 2, ODST and Crackdown, some of my favourite 360 games they are.

Ahh yes I should of specificated on my favourite types of games. Anything & everything to be perfectly honest, but I have played Lost Odyssey and completed it already, it was a long and brilliant game. My game cupboard is rather small though, titles I already own are Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, GTA IV, Gears of War 2, Resident Evil 5 & Viva Pinata.

EDIT:

Ninja Blade is a fun ride, and if you liked Lost Odyssey then you might like Blue Dragon as well (same developers, more kiddy look, deeper combat system).

You spend all your money on booze? might wanna cut back on that for starters for only being 18.

Find something with both a long story, side missions and plenty of features in it to occupy yourself for hours upon hours. I don't have a 360 but I hear Fable 2 would be just the thing for time consumption.

Borderlands is awesome, and if you have gold then you need to try out co-op. Brutal Legend is also a good game if you're in for some single-player fun with adventure, comedy and good music.

That's about as far as I can think in terms of new games that are currently out.

If you like JRPGs then go for Tales of Vesperia, the combat is real time and fun as hell, the story is good and the characters are great.

Rainbow 6 Vegas 1/2 and Condemned Criminal Origins are pretty fun as well .

Crackdown is great fun, but if you're a completionist, I'd suggest getting some Orbs maps before you start grabbing anything you find. I didn't think anything of it first time I played through, and ended up with 499/500 agility orbs, and the sound the orbs make when you're nearby haunted me for weeks afterwards.

Prototype is another great game with plenty to keep you busy, and although it does have Crackdown-orb-y stuff, it's a lot easier to get hold of a map after you've already picked some up, and be able to check off the ones you've already got as you go through.

And in all honesty, Fable II is another amazing game, but I felt it was fairly short, and it's not as fun to run around killing people after you've finished that than it is to run around killing people on Crackdown or Prototype. I even found myself having fun running around having fist fights with pedestrians, infected, and military alike on Prototype.

I think of those three, my personal opinion would be to go with Prototype.

Oh, and yeah, if you liked Lost Odyssey, as Beatrix said, give Blue Dragon a go. Mistwalker are doing a damn good job so far if you ask me.

I love how much the last one sticks out.

I'm gonna say Mass Effect, it's a game no 360 owner should be without. If the quality of the storytelling doesn't pull you in, I don't know what will.

The Orange Box (if you don't already own it), Bioshock or Batman: Arkham Asylum are my picks.

Borderlands.

If you like shooters and having a big world to explore with lots of different guns, you can't go wrong.

Dragon Age will be coming out tomorrow, and I've heard a slew of good things about it. Besides with it's long length and buckets of sidequests - it'll keep you entertained for ages. :)

Since you mentioned GTA4. I'm going to pitch Saints Row 2 to you. Consider it GTA's elss serious, funnier and much more random cousin, and it's awesome!
I would consider it more like GTA4s uglier, browner, stupider cousin.

One of the shoddiest messes of a game I've ever played, that suddenly became really popular in these parts because Yahtzee liked it.
