For me and all of the other folks who actually own the game and play it, they mean nothing. I'm six hours in and I still have no idea what these microtransactions are or how they effect my game. In fact, the only way I found out about them was from all the internet yentas acting like Jenson snuck into their bedrooms at night, popped a cyberboner out of his hand and shot microtransactions up their asses with it lol.
Now, if you're REALLY concerned about whether you want to buy this game or not because of this, just read the reactions from me and all of the other folks who've played it to see that these microtransactions couldn't be less intrusive (like I said, still haven't seen hide nor hair in six hours).
On the other hand, if you just like to exaggerate things in order to kvetch on the net about a game you didn't plan on getting in the first place...
