I made a pledge to my parents that I would rid my city of the evil that took their lives, a pledge to strike fear into the hearts of the superstitious and cowardly lot that are criminals. Crime has learned my name, and it has recoiled! I am the terror that strikes in the night! *dramatic music swells up* I am E-man!

I pledge because there are plenty of reasons in life to dislike people other than race, sex, sexual preference or religion. these all seem simple minded and vacuous to me. I tend to rate people instead based on how much of a douche bag they are. my friend and I created a point system.

I could be a jackass and mention that you made no distinction beyond implication as to what kind of discrimination you are against. Last I checked, being able to discern distinctive qualities of different individuals and objects is a sign of intelligence.

I won't take that route though, instead suggesting that you be more specific.

What pledge are you talking about? Are you pledging not to be racist? No sexism for you? Are you against all forms of discrimination? Is it the violence that you are against?

There are plenty of reasons to be against hating someone because they are different than you, but the whole pledge thing just seems childish and pointless. Kind of like this comment.
