It was the first volume of Fullmetal Alchemist and I really enjoyed it, I liked the story and the two protagonists as well as the whole concept of alchemy. It dipped in chapters 3 & 4 which I thought were just there to show off Edward and Alphonse's combat prowess and intelligence but overall it was a good solid read and I'll look to pick up the next volume.
It's a good comic. Probably the one I've collected the most of. The storyline's much better than the original anime.
The manga is the original.
I'm aware of that. I'm saying "the original anime" to distinguish it from the new one that's following the manga's storyline. :p
Oh right Brotherhood! I was hoping to get that, but they haven't released an english dub of it yet have they? Heard it was supposed to good though, and that it follows the plot the manga more strictly...so I guess it'll be mostly the same up to that bit where the original series and the manga split off. I'm especially excited because of what that means for Greed hehe. My favourite out of all the Homunculi.

As for the manga, I still don't have all the books yet...why won't it finish?!

ALso I throw in Desert punk ( really hard to get ahold of, but worth it)...and no it's NOTHING like the butchered anime they attempted to make of it...

Saint young men for a decent laugh..

there is alot I could suggest but alas I'll be lazy.
Promise me you'll return and edit more in though, I've never even heard of Desert Punk!

And I had the gall to call myself a manga nerd. Will check that out.
desert punk is a really twisted post apocalyptic series... I mean you CAN find the anime series ( I know netflix has it in there).. but the anime takes a turn and over playes the sexual jokes and such, because the series itself was too serious....but the anime also only covers what would be the first volume..but you can get a general idea of the story from that.

the second volume of DP is just...brutal....

I see spoiler tags work the same here as the anime/manga board I frequent. This is all good =D

I think Naruto Shippuuden has fluctuated, but I have liked what I have seen, save for one or two structural and narrative cop outs. But either way, Naruto part 1 was great, but the story was nowhere as deep as part 2. I liked that Sasuke vs Itachi actually gave way to another layer to the overall story, as well as other factors, like
Kabuto ffs. We know nothing of what is happening with him save for that image we saw of him way back when.
and the most recent arc, save for one part I despised, was awesome.
Wait, you think that Part II is deeper than Part I? Weeell, I'm not sure about "deep", but I know it just hasn't gripped in the way that Part I did. Personally, I don't like 90% of Shippuden, simply because I think naruto has lost it's focus. I mean look at Sasuke now; he's just a much worse character than he was before, as well as having evolved into a Mary Sue.

As for the Sasuke - Itachi fight...:

NOTE: I spoiler most things by whiting them, not putting them in spoiler boxes. Habit I picked up on TV Tropes. Just FYI.

I think you missed the point of that fight. It was to evolve Sasuke and Itachi as characters, not to prove which one was stronger. Hence the big expose by Madara <color=white>Uchiha to Sasuke afterwards about Itachi's true desire all along being <color=white>to protect Konoha at any cost to himself.

Just sayin'.

Improving those two as characters is almost undoable. It's certainly not able to be done by Kishi in his current story-writing mode. All it did was turn Itachi from badass to whiney martyr, and made Sasuke more of an emo than ever.

But that's just a personal thing. I can't stand Sasuke right now. We need more Lee and Gai.

Yeah, Greed is my favorite. I've been watching the Brotherhood subs on Funimation's website. They're alright, but because the storyline doesn't branch out until after Greed shows up, it's not as good as the first season of the original anime. The animation quality's lower than FMA's second season and they spend less time exploring the material.

I do have hopes for the series when it gets into the manga's territory.

God, I love the character of Greed, especially once
he takes Lin's body. I love the little dual thing they have going.

Also, doesn't One piece just have the greatest fights ever? I just watched the anime version of Luffy vs. Lucci, and it's bloody amazing.

And Jojo's Bizarre Adventure has some of the most powerful characters in mangadom. Seriously, one guy has a universal retcon that he can play god with, taking out people he doesn't like. It's seriously powerful.

One I rather felt was an awesome read that others haven't suggested was Monster.

That one is more of a serious thriller and is quite unpredictable where it's going.

I think that image sums it up quite well xD
Hehehehehehehehe, I loved that! Like I said though, I like what Sasuke vs Itachi gave us, not the fight itself. I just can't stand Sasuke, I really can't. There is a fair amount of stuff in there that keeps me guessing, like root among other things.

You know, I think I'm going to adopt that whiting out system as well as tags.
I hate Sasuke with a passion, but he's right. It was far from undoable in my eyes, considering he had been building up his character through certain nuances, like him crying in a certain arc. However Sasuke is still an ass in my eyes. I was trying to figure out what motive he would have after Itachi, but Madara gave him one. Sasuke was developed in the sense that he still reserves feelings for Naruto and Sakura, and sidebar, Sakura fucking irritates me to no end. You spend about three months and about three or four major missions with Sasuke and all of a sudden he's your f*cking future husband? Him showing shreds of emotion when he thanked Sakura before he left does kind of show, well not character evolution, but character.Whew. The evolution was there for one of them at least.
