"We believe it's called "Lucas Wants More Money."
I chuckled at that.
*Sigh* oh the things people will do for cash.

I concur. Also, they must have a Gonk [http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Gonk] as a side-kick.TheFacelessOne said:Win.Aura Guardian said:However..."The diaper is full with this one" has to be a line.
I'd watch it just for that line.

John Stewart commented on this effect during his interview with Lucas. He said his son and he have discussions like this.darthzew said:This... is worse than it seems, actually. Let me try to explain...
My little brother watches the "Clone Wars" all the time. It's his favorite show. At first, I thought it was cool how we both could like Star Wars, albeit his was version was crap. But one day I wanted to watch Star Wars (or Episode IV for the newer generation) with him. He complained that it was way too boring and that it wasn't "the real Star Wars".
He's only eight and he might grow into the good stuff, but part of why I love Star Wars is that I grew up with it. Now kids are going to grow up with all this stuff, which really won't be worth remembering, unlike the classics...
Oh sure, he's been involved in some masterpieces over the years, certainly. What I'm suggesting is that those films ended up being good because, ultimately, somebody else was in charge of them. I think the recent Star Wars films are a pretty clear indication that Lucas needs somebody else standing between his brain and full creative control.Furburt said:Notice I said 'Made' not directed. Although he did only direct the first one, I think he had enough control over the production of the others that thye could probably be considered 'his films'. In much the same way that a lot of people consider the Indiana Jones series to be a co-work with Lucas and Spielberg, even though it was Spielberg that directed them.Gildan Bladeborn said:If you want to get technical (and boy do I ever!), Lucas only directed the first Star Wars film (widely considered by Star Wars fans to be the weakest of the original trilogy) - in point of fact it was the last film he directed until 1999 (Star Wars came out in 1977), the year the near-universal loathing of Lucas started, because the film that prompted him to take up the director's chair again was The Phantom Menace.
You just listed all the good movies the man has ever made in his entire career as a director Furburt, and all of them date back to several decades before you were born. Looking at his latest efforts, one can reasonably conclude those films were good by accident.
I was suggesting the movie ended up being good because a lot of what George wanted to do was actually impossible, the state of graphics technology in the 70s meant he had to film things in real places, and the actors gave memorable performances despite working with a man who would much rather be filming puppets than people (I'm paraphrasing something Lucas actually said here).Furburt said:However, I did think the first one of the originals was very good, and not weak in any way.Gildan Bladeborn said:snip
In fact, I think they're all consistently strong. Even the bizarreness of the Ewoks still doesn't break the flow.
