You haven't been around long enough yet. It is just as much a mistake to generalize an entire group as great people as it would be to generalize an entire group as being bad people.

I've been around a bit longer, and I pseudo-agree with the OP. Compared to most of the crap on the internet, Escapists are awesome. Sure, there are a few assholes and generally bad people, but overall: this place rocks. (IMO)
