This especially annoys me if your character is the only one who has this magical power. Like in Watchdogs whenZhukov said:Video game characters shrugging off bullet wounds still bothers me just a little bit. I don't mind if they're souped-up super soldiers or wearing special sci-fi armour or whatnot. But when ostensibly normal people (most recently Faith in Mirror's Edge) take a bullet and keep right on trucking some little part of my brain starts ringing the bullshit bell.
This, especially vs lightly armoured (or not armoured) enemies who apparently take five headshots to kill. I get that things like zombies probably don't feel pain or bleed out, but 2-3 shots center-of-mass will kill a normal person. Why do I need to empty a whole pistol clip on a guy with no kevlar?Zhukov said:Video game characters shrugging off bullet wounds still bothers me just a little bit. "The clothing worn by the four main characters is the official battle gear of the Kingdom of Lucis," Tabata explained. "Noctis is a member of the royal family and the other three characters are parts of various Lucian national organisations and they are each wearing the specific battle dress relevant to their individual stations. In the Kingdom of Lucis where our heroes reside, the colour black has historically been treated as a special colour. Because of this, the attire of the royal family and those in occupations closely tied to them are unified by having black as a base colouring.
My god that looks like a boyband album cover, not a military unit. Le sigh.Eclipse Dragon said:Game isn't even out yet, but apparently the outfits worn by the protagonists in Final Fantasy 15 are military uniforms. Modern kevlar and old-timey plate armour work differently.Fappy said:Speaking of female armor, medieval plate armor and such is silly, yeah, but isn't modern kevlar actually better for women if it is shaped to their form? They call it Xena kevlar or some shit. I mean, it's basically fabric so it's not a liability and it's supposedly more comfortable. Plus, unless you're naked underneath (not recommended) I don't think you can really make kevlar sexy XD
Did it happen in a cutscene?Happyninja42 said:This especially annoys me if your character is the only one who has this magical power. So damn frustrating.Your female hacker friend dies from two freaking bullet wounds to the shoulders
This may seem like I'm contradicting myself, but it is possible for people to not only survive major bullet wounds, but even keep moving and fighting for a good few minutes after taking an eventually fatal shot.Sable Gear said:This, especially vs lightly armoured (or not armoured) enemies who apparently take five headshots to kill. Yes it was, and I'm familiar with the overpowering damage output of cutscene weaponry. xD I still find it annoying when I have to sit through it.Zhukov said:Did it happen in a cutscene?
Because cutscene bullets do like 300% damage. Double that if it's a major character doing the shooting.
Like when Nathan Drake spends half a game eating bullets to the face with nary a complaint, but then gets shot once in the gut by a main villain during a cutscene and suddenly shit is real.
I can't help but think you have to hate RPGs. Since your character/party will carry around every weapon and piece of armor they own at all times. Because of course Cloud can carry 14 50-110 pound swords at all times. They're just in his pocket. Along with Aerith's staves, Yuffie's throwing stars, Cid's spears, and whatever the Hell Barret's gun-arms count as.Zhukov said:Often when looking through a game character's inventory I will find myself thinking, "Y'know, there's no fucking way you could be carrying all that." They have actually developed female specific armor for the US MilitaryZhukov said:Modern kevlar and old-timey plate armour work differently.Fappy said:Speaking of female armor, medieval plate armor and such is silly, yeah, but isn't modern kevlar actually better for women if it is shaped to their form? Kevlar works differently. It absorbs the concentrated impact from a bullet by spreading it out over a much larger surface area. As far as I'm aware, the shape of the kevlar isn't all that important. So making it a comfy shape doesn't compromise protection. I actually remember reading somewhere that law enforcement organisations have found that comfy modern body armour actually works better simply because officers are more likely to wear it. If it's a pain to wear then there's a chance officers will start leaving it behind because hey, what are the chances of today being the day they end up in a firefight?
You know I'll admit that I've never minded the overall design of the characters, I've shrugged off a lot of the things people have found annoying, and I still intending on buying the game. However, the idea that these are the official military uniforms for their stations is one of those little things that actually does bother me. It strikes me as looking as if they don't know what military uniforms are.Eclipse Dragon said:Game isn't even out yet, but apparently the outfits worn by the protagonists in Final Fantasy 15 are military uniforms. Elementary - Dear Watson said:No... every FPS character has a small gremlin that lives on his or her back. When they reload they reach back and are greeted with a fully loaded mag handed to them... this is why they don't ever appear to struggle with the mud-encased pouches on their belt after you have made them crawl several kms in the undergrowth.
When you appear to discard a mag with rounds in the gremlin jumps off your back, collects it, debombs it into an ammo tin and then uses it to mag up another ready for your next discardment of good ammo.
You never see it because it is always on your back and there is no 3rd person mode.
Extra special mention goes to 300 for that, because of this scene:Fox12 said:Anytime a film does this:
Hey, assholes, how about you hold the line instead of breaking formation and running at the enemy with your hands in the air, waving them like you just don't care? No? You're just going to charge and form a large, unorganized mob? Okay then. Braveheart is particularly guilty, since I noticed that the battle of Stirling Bridge had a distinct lack of bridge. The Scottish are outnumbered, outgunned, and facing better trained soldiers. They didn't win that battle because they're tough, they won because they outsmarted the other guys. This always takes me out of a movie. I mean, I don't expect movie makers to be experts on medieval warfare, but a little bit of research would be nice.
The backstreet boys are an important part of their cultural heritage, and they choose to honor them by wearing black jackets over a bare chest.Eclipse Dragon said:Game isn't even out yet, but apparently the outfits worn by the protagonists in Final Fantasy 15 are military uniforms.
