I sweat too much.

I'll spare the graphic details of my irritating burden: I sweat too much, after just a little exertion. I can do anything from getting a chart out of file, file away charts, run the swifter on the floor, and a slick lather of me soaks my shirt.

I am overweight (5'6", 224 lbs.), and I exercise never. I know these are obscenely obvious culprits. But my z-shaped feet* keep me from being as active as I'd like. And I remember sweating like this when I weighed 180 lbs.

*z-shaped feet, or serpentine feet, is a foot disorder: rather than the bones running straight, from ankle to toe, they jut inward, outward, inward again, and then the toes curl outward. I hate myself.

This is not my x-ray: I found it on a .edu website, but this is exactly what my feet look like.

That looks painful. Does it hurt to walk?

Even if it's hard to exercise you can still lose weight and significantly reduce sweating by changing your diet. It's possible that you have hyperhidrosis. You haven't told us what you eat, but things like sugar, caffeine, MSG, alcohol and spicy foods exacerbate sweating. Try to eat more fruits and vegetables, legumes, and whole whole grains. Replace any butter you might use for cooking with olive oil and, although it may seem counter intuitive, drink lots of water. Also, increase your intake of calcium, milk being the obvious source but if you are lactose intolerant you can get it from beans, spinach and orange juice. You should also eat B vitamins, found in fish, eggs, avocados, peas, carrots, nuts and sweet potatoes.

I hope this helps. Don't be too hard on yourself.

It does hurt to walk. But I am talking with my podiatrist about what options I have, even drilling screws in the ankles to forcibly align my feet.

I do take medicine for depression and ADD, as well as drinking coffee sugary sodas, milk, and I also take supplements for vitamin D and magnesium.

I should drink more water than I have been, which is easy, because I sit right next to the water cooler.

Couldn't you do exercises that mainly exercise without using feet?
Such as pull-ups, weight lifting, etc. Sure, its not quite as good as burning fat as running but it will still help, and hey. You'll become buff.

If you're in the UK (which I'm assuming because today is a hot day) then just go to your GP.

NOPE: I'm an American, my friend! And as stated in my second reply, I am seeing a podiatrist (foot specialist) for this.

The next options are:

a.) find good footwear and treat inflammation with aleve

b.) sew the toe with the inflamed bursae to the adjacent one

c.) cut off the toe

however, I may have found another option

d.) install screws in my ankles to forcibly re-align my feet.

I wish I were a British citizen, so I could be considered for the latest experiments in robotic prosthesis, and run circles around Usain Bolt.

Okay, so I just read some studies saying you eat less if you eat slowly. I'm trying this, see if anything changes.

Ouch, that looks really horrible.

Some people sweat more than others and there is a surgery to fix it called hyperhydrosis. Before taking this surgery, which does differ in effectiveness from person to person and can have really serious side effects, it would try other options such as loosing weight.

Does it hurt to swim? Swimming, in addition to being fun, provides great cardiovascular exercises. Additional benefits typically include increased lung capacity as well as muscle tone.

What's more, you don't have to worry about sweating when you are swimming as no one will be able to tell the difference when you exit the water.

This is primarily how I lost weight when I was trying to do so. I was able to lose 30 pounds in 1 Summer in addition to cutting my caloric intake.
My apartment swimming pool is outside, and it's been raining nonstop this week. But I do want to take advantage of it.
