I think Dark Souls has numbed me.

I'm about 3 quarters of the way through dark souls and have been stuck on the same boss for the last 24 hours. After finally getting a humanity and turning human, I am invaded and killed. One week ago, I would've raged. Now, I took it with a sad silence and continued my hopeless attempts to kill these bosses. So, to the point. Has Dark Souls numbed you?

I've given up on the game myself. I spent two hours today just wandering through old areas killing enemies because it's all I can do. When I get summoned into another world--it's part of the Forest Convenent I joined--the player I fight has insane armor, magic-enchanted weapons, high level magic, crazy strength, and just stomps me into the ground. If I turn human, I'll die within a half hour because something, somewhere, will go wrong, even though it worked fine the fifty times I did it as undead. Bosses keep changing their attack patterns half way through the fight. When I think I've finally got it down, they do something different and I lose all my health in one or two hits. Leveling up seems to make no difference. I'm at level fifty now and I still lose most of my stamina from two or three hits, and my life bar refuses to stay full.

Also, I would like to point out that I'm level 50--in case you missed that--and I STILL haven't figured out how to use magic or pyro stuff. I equip it, equip the staff, and when I try to use it all my character does is scratch his head. Why? Hell if I know. The game never explains how to use magic, so while everyone else has lightening or fire-enchanted weapons, I'm still walking around with the Drake sword that does next to no damage against the enemies I fight. This used to piss me off, but now I'm just annoyed to the point where I'm done.

Haven't played the game myself, but I did become numbed from the two flying bosses at the end of Vanquish. Around the 30th death, I couldn't care what happened.

the biggest piece of advice I can give anyone for this game is to as soon as you can to GET RID OF THE DRAKE SWORD, it';s a great stater weapon but it does not scale with your stats and pretty much after the first few bosses is quite useless.

Also, there really is no benefit to being in human form at all, you don't have reduced health as undead, you don't have cheating bastards who use the infinite souls cheat to get the best gear at the beginning hours of the game, and you don't have to worry about a second pool of resources being lost when you die. I only use humanity when I need to kindle a new bonfire and that is it.

But seriously check the wiki,I'm almost certain that you'll smack yourself when you see that most boss strategies are stupidly easy. As an aside which boss is giving you so much trouble?

As for myself I did hit that wall where all the enemies were just handing me my ass, but after checking the wiki, and seeing some other threads, I finally nailed down my problem which was the drake sword. It's a great stater weapon, but as I said in the beginning, get rid of it soon and start upgrading other weapons that you find, other weapons may seem weaker but they scale with your strength and dexterity stat as you level(sometimes sorcery and faith as well for some weapons) I was lucky to get the black knight axe, and while I couldn't proficiently use it without 2-handing it, I didn't care because I was making progress cause now enemies were going down with ease, such as the snake men or the giant skeletons.

I've memorized every move, and the reason I try being human is too summon people to help, which would work if anybody would put their stupid summoning stone down. What weapon do you recommend? I am currently trying to level up my strength, which is at 36, so i can use the axe the gaping dragon dropped.

What difficulty were you playing on? Those two dudes were the easiest bosses in the game for me.

That is three quarters of the way through? Huh. I'm stuck on the same fight. I know their every move. I'm using a Lifehunt Scythe+4 and a Iaito+10. I can kill one about a third of the time then the powered up guy gets me. Every time. So you are a warrior? Just get a weapon that you like using that scales with strength to +10. It should get the job done damage wise.

I think some of the best weapons, outside the ones created through demon souls, would be the drops from the black knights, like I said I was lucky and got the black knight greataxe which sadly can only be upgraded with twinkling titanite, don't know how it compares to the dragon axe you have but at +4, the axe does 298 physical with a B grade bonus to strength, req 36 str. and 18 dex to wield 1 handed. but yeah upgrading other weapons to +10 and see what their stats are also see which ones will scale greatly with your strength and dex.

And for that fight, seriously screw that fight, I just killed the smaller guy as quickly as possibly(lost out on his armor but oh well there's always NG+) and then caught the fat guy on the broken pillars and picked away at his health with a bow, not exactly honorable but it got the job done.

Wait till you play other games considered difficult after this.
You'll be like "Oh yeah my health regenerates and I can restart any time? Why was i worried about losing?"

Dark Souls keeps sounding more fun and humbling. I really want to play it.

The only thing that has been really difficult for me was in Lost Odyssey, when you're fighting General Ka-..tanka(?), I didn't know that a flame shield was needed, and I died, literally, dozens of times. I didn't play the game for a month afterward.

I have to agree with ya the Black Knight Great Axe has one of the best moveset in sets in the game. Also the dragon great axe isn't worth it at all. The 50 str requirement, the massive weight and the short range. You're better off using any other Axe in the game compared to it.

I really think From Software throwing in the early power weapons that don't scale is hurting people who rely on them on trains randomly afterwards.. Weapons like the Drake Sword and Jagged Ghost Blade

I can't remember, but I haven't fought a boss in Vanquish that gave me 1/3rd the trouble as them.

As someone said before you need to attune the magic and then use the up arrow to select your spells. I'd also recommend ditching your drake sword, it's past the time when it was useful and you should be looking at something that scales with str/dex/mag/faith.
