Well there is one thing that all of those have in common: They all still exist, and we talk about it. I know its not the exact same as celebrities but even in infamy if a game company is still being talked about it means someone is buying their products. The ones that do just suddenly collapse? the seldom mentioned developers.

And EA is eating money on Mass Effect, the steroids scandal nearly killed WWE and drove away a lot of investors, and Ubisoft is projected to go under.

Should Ubisoft go under, does that mean there's no such thing as bad publicity? Part of the reason they're hemorrhaging is that they got so much publicity. The publicity is what's making it so hard for them to recover,has led to layoffs, and has led to further stock/profit issues and projection of failure.

This is a good thing simply because they're still alive? They're less alive than they were before the publicity.

And out of context, that sounds great. The point is, this has demonstrably hurt them. That publicity is the reason they're in trouble; stock prices dropped because of a combination of EA publicity over Mass Effect, the refunding of money on the game for PR, and lackluster performance of many other titles.

Quite frankly, this is bad publicity. The studios that have been shut down, contrary to your prior statement, do sometimes do so with an actual fanfare instead of quietly passing.

Seems intentionally misleading. Someone unknowing would go into that expecting something epic, only to be let down by a bland ending that leaves you with more questions and is full of plot holes the size of the sun.

To be fair, the game is still amazing, just with a crappy ending. Seriously, aside from the ending, it was easily the best game I've played this year so far, and nothing's come close to topping it.

I'm honestly shocked that even a marketing department would flip off the fans with an ad like that. I must wonder how this will affect their next game's sales. They haven't been hurt so far by all this negative publicity and seem hell-bent on remaining cold and aloof to their fans, so its anyone's bet as to whether their sales will take a hit with the next game.

Bioware's become a company with a reputation for dishonesty after this scandal, but how much will the average customer care?

If it helps any, I really wasn't trying to be combative. Arguing on the internet is tricky because it's hard to tell demeanor without an excessive amount of smilies. And even then...Well, I could paste a happy face and be sad or vice versa, so....
