I would say there's no discussion here blah blah blah, but this writes itself. Jack disagrees with a bill that punishes some gamers? What? All I can see where this makes sense is if he wants to make it illegal for a minor to buy any game regardless of rating.

Thank you for contributing to the conversation.

So Jack isn't completely insane after all? My brain is about to explode.

Politics go completely over my head.
Hence why this needs to be put in the right section.

Save your sarcasm for someone who cares.

What does politics going over your head have to do with this needing to be moved to the right section? This encompasses both gaming and politics, anyways.
Obviously you did care, otherwise you wouldn't have responded. Posts that contribute nothing but "wrong section," "use the searchbar," etc. get on my nerves.

Be careful with that thought. Jack says it's unconstitutional at the moment BUT he's going to help them rewrite it to do the same thing, whilst being constitutional.

Less a defence and more a "You can do more damage this way"

Read the article. He doesn't disagree with the intent of the bill, in fact he wants to help rewrite it so it does pass muster. He just agrees that the bill as it stands is unconstitutional and doomed to failure.

Hell froze over? But I don't think Half Life 2 Episode 3 isn't out yet.

OT: Well. That was unexpected.

Not much else to say really.

The OP consists of three words and a link, and I'm the one lacking contribution?

Now Jack Thompson is still his old self but instead of outright supporting the bill as it stands..he's going to help change the bill so he gets his way. He's still an ass

Because some guy quoted me in the form of a sarcastic comment, so I felt the need to defend myself.

I'm not too surprised, really. A friend of mine met him when he went to the US and got him to sign his copy of GTA4. Seriously.

So now Rhode Island kids may definitely have to use their fake IDs on more than just buying menthols and crappy beer. And will that broken soul down at Gamestop give a damn if they think you have one?

How will this control games bought through an online distributor like Steam? I'm guessing that it won't.

Hurray, now my sno-cone in Hell business will take right off!

On topic: Why wouldn't he agree with it? It's useless to tax violent games, there's no reason to. It's just stupid.

I.... i know this sounds stupid. And it probably is. Could someone explain to me why its unconstitutional?

"Penalizing the sales or rental of M and AO games to minors." Doesn't seem any different than... "penalizing the sales of pornographic or AO movies to minors."

Don't get me wrong, i don't think its worth passing. And i don't think it will help anything. Ever. That doesn't mean its unconstitutional...
