Yeah i was just checking football scores on yahoo (yes i watch football what of it?), anyway after reading a recap or two i checked the comments... i was stunned... i thought maybe the fans of that team are just bad. Oh how wrong i was. Every team, every recap, every article. Abusive to the teams, the writers, other commenters. I have seen flame wars before, i even fought my fair share during the xbox vs. PS2 vs. gamecube days (don't start, that was the past and i don't care about PS3 vs. 360 vs. Wii/Wii U).

But man. racial slurs, curse words and outright insults... and this is with the profanity filter on... i thought Free-to-Play gamers had alot of workarounds...

Anyway ever Entered a Forum thread or comment section and found flames and abuse galore where you didn't expect it?

Not really. But then I don't venture to many forums beyond here of the Jedi Council Forums.

That's footballers for you. Not all, of course but the pathetic ones that start foaming at the mouth and threatening death upon someone who dares to support another team to them.
I remember hearing something about Leeds fans killing some other fans, I'll have to look into it though. Apparently they were awful and violent back in the day.

OT: Youtube. Even if the video is a fluffy kitten playing with a ball of yarn the comments will pretty much be "die faggotz, ***** cunty suck my dick!" "Yea, ur momz a whore! she sux ma dick!"

Kind of makes me want Youtube to start disabling comments...

You asked if I had ever entered a thread or comment section where a flame war erupted and I didn't expect it. I said no. I answered your question, need anything else? If I want to find a flame war, I know where to look, they don't sneak up on me.

Youtube is my answer as well. The troll legions there move without fear. Video authors can disable comments but viewers can't.

Any dedicated Zelda forum. It's filled with people who claim anyone who doesn't think Ocarina of Time is the best Zelda is retarded, and you're instantly gay if Wind Waker is one of your favorites. Also there's a ton of people who suddenly like Majora's Mask as of this year despite claiming it as utter crap for the previous decade, then acting like hipsters when someone calls them out on it.

No, the Youtube comments will always be "this vid rocks and Bieber suxx"

Seriously, I don't like that kids music but I have gained the utmost respect for him through all the assholes that deem it necessary to slag off a 16 year old they've never met in a forum he will never visit, read by people who will never care.

Also the Failbook comments section are always nonsensical babble, filled with trolls trying to out-troll each other (They don't seem to realise it doesn't work when everyone is a troll) So it inevitably degrades from the very first post to an endless repetition of old memes.

Any Guardian article about music ever is always accompanied by a flamewar between multiple music snobs. SOOOO funny to read.

I don't think it's as much the fact that it was footballers. In my experience, comments on Yahoo articles, regardless of the topic tend more towards horrific than acceptable. There are exceptions, of course, but it's held up most times I make the mistake of scrolling down.

Though yeah, youtube. My most recent experience was when I was looking for some music to listen to. Found a piece titled "Most Beautiful Song/Music Ever Written (Relaxing Meditation)". It was a nice piece, so I decided to see what other people thought. Imagine my surprise when I saw that the comments had been practically monopolized by a rather unpleasant back and forth religious argument...suffice to say that it was of the "REPENT YE GODLESS SINNERS!" variety. How that popped up on a video like that is beyond me.

As an X Factor fan (don't hate), seeing the comments on pretty much any article relating to Astro's disrespect when he was in the bottom two. For reference, he is a 15 year old rapper from Brooklyn. But apparently, he was being so rude and disrespectful that he should have been eliminated for his attitude. Also, he should have had his ass kicked by his parents, if the comments are to be believed. All because a 15 year old rapper from Brooklyn, who has been told by the judges every week that he might win this thing, showed a bit of an attitude when he was in the bottom two.
