I took my brother to a roller coaster once, despite his secret fear of them. He'd been planning to get out before it started moving, but I pulled down the security thingie that keeps you in your seat, so he couldn't.

He loved it.

I can get my friends to try out anything the same way they can do to me... and then Boku no Pico happened... The first OVA didn't do it, but the second and third OVA was a whole other story at that point...

Other than that, I got my mom to watch Afro Samurai on the grounds of Samuel L. Jackson... She ended up really loving the series to the point that she told me "You didn't have to hook me in with SLJ to begin with..." Also, getting my mentor to watch Cowboy Bebop after he asked me what show he should watch that I enjoyed watching was the one time where he could clearly see me trying to do something for him in particular...

I'll mention something to someone and then usually stop bringing it up. If they end up trying it that's cool; if they don't that's cool too. That mainly stems from me not liking to be talked into trying something. Most times if someone keeps bringing something up that I should try I won't try it. Usually it works and they stop bringing it up. There was one time though I yelled at an ex-friend of mine of to shut up because he wouldn't stop trying to get me to try something.

In case anyone's interested I am the one that ended the friendship. The guy was annoying and never knew when to shut his mouth.

A friend of mine tried to get me into Devil May Cry 4 by fighting the fire boss guy. I just didn't care for it at the time. Give it a year or 2 or more and suddenly I love the series after trying again with #3 and buy all that is offered from the series on Steam. Logged in 100s of hours. Something similar happened with Bob's Burgers and Rick and Morty. The former is because of the same friend. I told him it looked stupid, but I saw some of it and it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Not amazing, but certainly not Family Guy bad. The latter is a show I've seen clips of recently and I'm starting to warm up to it. The art style and mini-clips I saw before gave a bad impression especially since I associate what I saw with bad shows *shudders at thought of Flash animation shows. Beavis and Butthead and Uncle Grandpa.

As for what I've gotten people into, I got that same friend into the Arkham games, Korra, and a kid's cartoon I don't remember the name of.

I've been on the receiving end of this more than I've ever made a suggestion. I can think of one occasion where I convinced a friend to watch Mad Bull 34. It was an afternoon of initial hate that turned into drunken lolz. Another time I showed him Kagaku Na Yatsura...if you've seen it you know the general reaction.

I hardly ever come across this kind of thing, as I tend to discover most new things by myself, but this has happened to me with a few tv series. The Wire, Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones to be honest. I already knew The Wire to be great, I just didn't honestly expect it to be that great. Breaking Bad I'd watched the first season, and thought it rather meh. Then I watched the second episode of the second season, and I couldn't stop watching. I was recommended Game of Thrones by almost all of my friends, but at the time I was stuck in my stubborn thinking that fantasy was a dead genre with nothing new to offer. I was proven massively wrong as half an hour into the first episode I was in love.

Maybe not as much as "talked into" but many of my mates always give me tips on movies I'm going to enjoy, and usually they're right.
I can't really think of anything I've been talked into that I've been resisting to do/watch/etc, nor can I think of me talking a friend into anything :/

I don't tend to get talked into things. I attribute this to the fact that when people tried to do it most, it was in the era of "Two girls, one cup" that I still haven't seen and never intend to see. Regardless, I now react to people telling me to do things with the same reaction.

I do try to get people into fanfics though simply so it isn't such a guilty pleasure. Sadly, the bad reputation of fan-fiction makes getting people actually on board with it a nightmare. It most certainly does not help when fanfiction.net throws up another fic with the tags "godlike, neglect, dark, yaoi" into the listings when I put the settings to "highest favourites order; all ratings; updated within 24 hrs."

Talked people into watching Madoka, Punchline and Psycho-Pass. All achievements I'm quite proud of, as the people enjoyed them immensely. Next goal is getting said people to watch Gangsta and .hack//sign.

Way back 7 or 8 years ago in middle school, my friend got introduced me to World Of Warcraft. Wrath of the Lich King just came out so there were advertisements everywhere, and i had a significant lack of games so i was considering it. The only thing that put me off was that WoW was considered a bit "Geeky" at the time, at least it was in my head (It was 2007 and middle school, cut me some slack).
Ended up trying it anyways and it quickly became the game i spent the most time on (about 1200 hours total, i've only recently surpassed it with Garrysmod).
I do miss the old WoW days, but i'm not going back to it.

Also a few Anime recommended by my sister or friends, including Attack on Titan and Cowboy Bebop.

Got my friend into Dragon Ball Z Abridged by Team Four Star. When I suggested it, he simply said, "I don't watch anime". Now, he's so into it that he's trying to get other people to watch it. I haven't had as much luck with other abridged shows though.

When I was younger I was very adverse to watching Star Trek TOS, for the reasons of Star Wars, and having been spoiled with Star Trek TNG, not to mention having heard that TOS was shit compared to TNG. So a super nerdy friend of mine lent me the entirety TOS on VHS and I ended up marathon watching it. I got pestered into getting FTL, Minecraft, Shovel Knight, Papers Please, and Dark Souls by a friend over the last year. Ended up loving them all, though I've still only barely scratched the surface of Dark Souls.

I've convinced a stunning number of people to fall in love with Rain and Validation web comics.

"I didn't like it."
"Did you finish the first episode?"
"No, I quit half way."
"Go back and finish the episode."

Next day:

"Did you watch it?"
"OH MY GOD!"
"Yup. You watched it."

Got my sister in to Gravity Falls and I was convinced by a friend to watch it too.

I've pestered- erm, i mean... told a co-worker about the Warhammer 40k tabletop and that he might like it (he's into sci-fi, board games, pen & paper etc.). He was sceptical and stubborn... but now he's the proud owner of a ca. 3000 pts Necrons army, ca. 3000 pts Eldar army and waaaaay too many Space Marines.

The Emperor would be proud.
