Why all the hate... Hrm..

Why all the hate?

Origin. Origin is all the hate.

If it was origin free, i would buy it. But no.

Either i wait for a Console release (Gasp!) or not Buy it at all.
I've heard a lot of people complaining about Origin. I know nothing about it seeing as how I'm a console gamer, so I really can't say if people are over-reacting due to it being Origin exclusive or not. This is why I don't mention the "I hate Origin" argument in my OP. :p

Edit: Best I can say is that in that case, you're not really hating against the game itself, you're hating against the system that you're forced to play it on. There were a lot of PS3 exclusive games that I've wanted to play over the years, but I didn't run out and buy a PS3 because quite simply I enjoy the XBox better. So if that's your reason not wanting to buy the game, fair enough I suppose.
I find that a apt comparison, but not really.. after all, Origin Is free But the simple fact is, is that at the end of the day, theres one reason i dont want Origin on my computer;

I have steam.

Whether or not Origin steals my details, Whether or not it acts like spyware, whether or not it doesnt work most of the time, i simply dont want to have to Manage TWO gaming services at the same time. Thats two Friend Lists, two Social networks, two game updaters and installers, two of.. everything really. I just find it redundant.

If steam didnt exist, (Or rather, i didnt use steam at all) i would be happy to use origin. But at this point in time, i already use steam, and dont need another.

Well whats the point in setting up these characters if youre going to ditch 95% of them when the game is over? Wouldnt it be better to have a sequel where the characters arent disposable?

Another point I want to make is about the jaggedness of the loyalty missions, which are 70% of the game. I mean its so forced, like a checklist. Jacob can go, "What? You didnt have time to help me sort out my daddy problems? Well fuck you", it totally breaks immersion of shephard as commander.
We don't know if all of them are returning as squad mates yet. But there was a little chart given the other day that shows the squad members and if they would be returning to Mass Effect 3 or not.
http://www.ugo.com/games/mass-effect-deaths
(it's pretty big so I won't link it into the thread)

But the thing is, there is so much we just don't really know about the game, and therefore we let speculations take hold and who really knows what might happen.

I really didn't mind the loyalty missions, despite them being a bit out of the blue. The thing about me, though, is that I'm excited about it, but my expectations are not so incredibly high to the point that they are unachievable (which is a major problem with most gamers). I'm simply just excited about being able to finish a story, which I'm sure will be a good ending to the Mass Effect Trilogy. (I'm sorta rooting for the Reapers, because otherwise we would be a combo breaker for their 50,000 year cycle.)

And that's pretty much exactly my take on the matter. I can't stand EA, but I'm not going to let my absolute disgusts of them ruin my love for Bioware's games. Go for the eyes, Boo...GO FOR THE EYES!!!
In EA's case, Squeaky wheel gets the kick!

But on topic. I can not wait to finish this trilogy.

Here's the thing. The biggest thing I've been vocal about is the DLC. Me2 had a pathetic amount of items in game. Almost all good weapons and armour were DLC and that's not acceptable. All the DLC just makes me think the item selection is going to be even worse then ME2. unless I'm proven wrong I will NOT buy it.

I like ME's combat and I love the setting, but the DLC is preventing me from buying it unless they prove to have more options in items without DLC.

The reason that they watered down the selection of weapons in ME 2 is because numerous players complained that, while there was a wide variety of weapons in the first game, the actual usefulness of them all was almost negligible. Most people would find one specific "brand" and wouldn't bother getting anything other than the next version of that same gun. Then, of course, you unlock the Specter weapons and everything else becomes absolute junk.

This means many people were spending their time either just selling off most of their inventory or turning it into Omnigel. So they decided to reduce the selection to a standard model for each gun type, and upgraded model for each gun type, and a super version of each gun type. Yeah there were a lot of DLC weapon packs but the standard weapons got the job done just fine.

As for ME 3, from what I've heard they're going to be doing a mix of things, because one of the things that people complained about in ME 2 was not being able to upgrade your weapons. So I think what they're going to do is have the smaller weapon selection, but make you able to install upgrades in your guns like you could in ME 1.

Well I guess we'll see then. At least now I'm not completely ignorant about the weapon thing. I'm skeptical still, but I'll wait till it's release to make a full decision because it would suck to play the first two of the trilogy and never see a conclusion. I'll still wait though, I'm not preordering it or anything, I want to wait and see the public opinion (That isn't bioware fans that won't say anything bad about it anyway)

The fact that we need one of these threads for every thread they are complaining about is a problem. Can we just have one flame-filled thread where the anti current-Bioware camp dukes it out with remaining fans?

But yeah, I have my concerns and plenty to complain about but I am still fucking excited for the game.

I want it too, I must make Shepard fail spectacularly so that our Reaper overlords can finally free the galaxy.

I mean... yeah, I want to save the galaxy and all that jazz.

:p Personally from what I've seen this is the first thread to acknowledge that despite all the complaints, people are still eagerly awaiting the concluding chapter to this series. Basically every time Bioware sneezes the flamers come out and decry it as a horrible move that either insults fans or straight up kicks'em in the balls. All I've been saying is that yes, there are things to complain about. But there's things to complain about with every new game. The general mood of this forum from what I've seen has been "ME 3 is going to be the worst game ever!" so I thought we needed a bit of a counter-balance to that.

Until they decide to ditch Origin out, I'll fucking buy the Collector's Edition!.

And no, I'm not buyin' yer stinkin' consoles.

Woah, calm down. Is it really necessary to insult people? It's not helping your case to rage like this.

I think that until the game is released, we can't know for sure whether the game is going to be good or bad. I'm optimistic, but I know some people aren't.

That said, those people aren't going to find much sympathy in a thread titled "I /WANT/ Mass Effect 3!"
do yourself a favor dont try with this guy i spent like 8 long posts trying to explain things to him and he still insaulted and raged at me. so my advice to you and everyone else stop feeding the troll and put him on ignore, i did and now i find these thread much more enjoyible:)

OT: march cant get here fast enough for me i want my CE NOW!:)

:p Yeah, I called that guy for being a troll immediately and sure enough he vanished off the thread. Were I more of a dick I'd report him because, combined with your description of a similar encounter with him, he is nothing but a troll and that's against the rules here.

But as long as he's easily chased away, I don't mind, so screw him. :p

There is a demo out on the 14th, but im gonna ignore it so i can play it all new. I never play demos properly anyway and would rather not ruin it. Plus its only a few weeks before the full game is released so i can wait.

I too really want this game but seeing as Mass Effect is quite possibly my favourite game series that's hardly surprising. Also I honestly don't understand why someone who doesn't like mass effect will come into a thread about liking it and try and force people to change their opinion it just doesn't make sense to me.

Its like waiting for Christmas and your birthday and more Christmas and the last day of school.

When they pushed from Holiday's 2011 to March 2012, I almost cried!

I can't wait for it, I played and played, and waited for so long.
I have no doubt that it will be awesome.

I kind of wonder whether it's mostly a newer generation of gamers that like the Mass Effect series. I don't know... I put about 9 hours into ME and got bored so never played past that. You'd think an epic RPG would keep me hooked for longer. I also got ME2 free with DA2, and never bothered to play it because of my ME1 experience. Obviously I'm "missing" a lot of the interesting bits or whatever, but I just found the game so boring and... whatever. Plus the combat was terrible. I also didn't like DA:O much, though I gave it over 30 hours. The combat on PS3 was just terrible. DA2 on PC had slightly better combat, but the generic/repeat environments got boring although to be fair I'm in the last chapter at least.

Regardless, I just find the BioWare version of RPGs is missing some stuff that I feel really ought to be there. Without it I find them kinda boring. Perhaps this is why I'm also worried about Diablo 3 from what I've heard about the beta. That's probably my next hope for a good RPG, as the Kingdoms of Amalur demo was kinda sucky and boring.

Then again, maybe I'm just too picky. There's always that possibility... now excuse me while I go play Battlefield 3 =P

I *really* want to play it too, the game looks amazing and I honestly think BioWare will hit it out of the park. Think Mass Effect fans are going to have an absolute blast come March.

But I don't want Origin on my machine and I can't afford a console, so I'll be relying on youTube to tell me how it (could) end unless EA change their mind :/

I agree. Can't wait for the game. However, you can't really blame people for hating on the game. Pretty much all the promotional content surrounding it has been promoting the "shooter" aspects of it, and the story seems pretty much non-existent. I'm sure it won't turn out that way, but right now its just "You are Badass, Robots are bad, Kill them."
Yeah, this is hugely true.

Also, to OP. This is a fucking forum, its a place of discussion for everything. I'm sorry, but telling people to get off the site because they want to discuss the bad things of a game is highly illogical. Its a place for discussions on anything gaming related, this includes flaws of a game.

And many of the points of hatred against Mass Effect 3 is 100% true. I mean theres a mode to where you can skip dialogue all together. Multiplayer mode that doesn't need to be there. Origin's own stupid system. All of the marketing being for something like Gears of War, not Mass Effect. Its like having a Skyrim trailer consist of the Dovahkiin playing Tetris. Sure, it has Skyrim in it, but Tetris surely isn't what you would want from a Elder Scrolls game.

Its probably going to be the weakest link in the series because of these extra additions that just don't belong in a Mass Effect game. Also, your probably not going to be able to be a alien so I won't buy it because its more interesting to see a old classic Attack of the Martians alien running around then a very boring, probably highly stereotypical human running around.

Also, I think I know how it ends. Shepard, against all odds kills every single last Reaver in the galaxy and everything lives happily ever after. It will either be that or everyone dies. Whether or not a character dies is irrelevant, the ending will probably be one of these two extremes.
